The Toyotas are showing well - right up there with the Renaults and McLarens.

The Toyota's are very reliable too - and are managing some quick laps.

The questions at that team see to be about race pace/consistency.

I'ts interesting looking at the juxtaposition position of the teams.

Ferrari will start favourite for the WCC, purely on past experience and their level of performance over an entire season.

On the face of it BAR have most to lose, finishing second in the WCC means that realisitcally they face a hard task to move up from there, and more competition to stay there - so down is there most likely prospect.

Whereas, Toyota can hardly fall back any further and have most to gain. McLaren and Williams under achieved in 2004, so have more room for improvement.

Renault look to be in the most difficult spot, by finishing 3rd in the WCC they have room for improvement, but are likely to be in the tightest, most competitive group - Renault/Williams/McLaren/BAR with Toyota as likely interlopers.

The rest will be crumb gathering, I would guess.

People are right to be suspicious of testing times but I think you can read general patterns from the times.

This time last year BAR were setting lap records left right and centre and heading the time sheets. everyone was deeply suspicious but they carried that pace into the season.

But it just ain't happening this year is it?

my feeling is that Ferrari, McLaren and Renault are looking best right now.

Veeerrrry Iiiinnnnteresting..........

With all the commotion at both RB (nee Jag) and Cosworth, they don't seem to have suffered all that much. I know all the "it's only testing" drivel. Still many top teams are languishing at the bottom of the chart. DC isn't like others and would never say the car sucked to the press, but the proof is on the time sheets. Think the team principals at Minardi, Jordan, Sauber aren't light loading a car at the end of the session to try to turn a scorcher ? You bet they are.

I expected RB to founder. Good on 'em !

Just saw some pics from today's testing at Jerez, I can't tell what car Button was driving, but he got the fastest time of the day.
I think they might be running a different front wing too, can't be sure though...

Yeah, it looks like BAR are running a new wing. The bit that sorta mirrored the nose has been given the chop.

Also looks like Button has dumped the car in the tyre barrier.
