M-Kart should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ok, here's a bit of an update on a few things.

The Birrana F2 cars:
As mentioned earlier in the thread, Peter's 2 Birrana's were:

Birrana 272-002 originally a birrana factory car for Malcolm Ramsay and Henk Woelders, used by PB in 1972, then sold on to Bernie Zampatti for 1973, when Peter upgraded to:

Birrana 273-008, Peter's 1973 car, also sold to Zampatti, in March 1974. This is the car (008) that has recently been restored in melbourne by Bruce Mactier, & presented back to Bernie Zampetti by his family.

The original car (002) was beleived to have been almost completely destroyed in a crash some years later, however it has resufaced in some for and is presently beng restored in WA by Glen Caple. This can be seen here on the Western Australia Racing Museum associate's cars page:
http://www.warm.org.au/images/WARM-a...na/Birrana.htm

(most of the above has already been mentioned, but felt that the story should be refreshed when posted the new link to the 002 car, as the old birrana talk was a breif bit back on page 11).

Porsche 924:
As for the Porsche 924 Carrera GTR that PB/Bond/Jim Richards tried to qualify (but didnt) at Le Mans 1981, it is on this page, towards the bottom:

http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-14-photo.html
(Car #74, enetered in gold & dark green colours by Porsche Cars Australia).

Now cant assist much as to where it is now, but the fact that Porsche Australa entered it, and it is beleived (mentioned earlier in the thread by someone) that Bond ran it for a few years after means that it may still be in Australia.

Below is the larger photo of it, so at least those who didnt know about it before this thread (like me) can see what it looks like! I hope this is a start to uncovering this car's location!

Allan Hamilton (Porsche Cars Australia) advertised the car internationally as a Porsche 944 Turbo - I understood it was sold out of Australia.

I have surfed the net looking for a listing of the 924GTRs (were there 17 or 19 built?).

Thnaks for that Cavvy - i assume this would be the same car that Bond ran for a few years after as a 944 then, in white/black/yellow/red porsche colours? (this car here):
http://www.autopics.com.au/cache/ite....html?cache=no

(and i also have been looking for a register for the 924GTR's aswell - havent had any luck as yet).

According to the 'Porsche 924' page on Wikipedia, in the table titled '924 Special Production', there were 17 924 Carrera GTR's built, all in 1981. See: http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...00#post1857100

By coincidence I purchased the July 1981 issue of Racing Car News last Friday. It has an interview with Brocky about his attempt to qualify the 924 at Le Mans with Bondy and Richo.

Apparently they were second reserve and were a chance to start but the car was so bad (mainly gear selection problems) that even if they were given permission to start they probably would have declined the offer!

Was that the $500K Car?

Was the 1973 Bathurst and 1974 ATCC winner the same car?

One should mention it is half the '74 ATCC winning car. HDT had switched to the SLR-5000 model by the end of the 1974 ATCC, though it was the XU1 which did the groundwork for it....

Not sure if you would class it as one of his race cars, but Peter Brock's Austin 7 was up at the Winton historics on the weekend.

This thread seams to have slowed a lot, maybe this needs a link in the Aussie section
I would have thought old cars that Brock drove would be coming out of the wood work by now.

We where talking about a couple of cars yesterday. The 2 B&D Autos cars !

The 'Beast' 6cyl LJ Sports sedan version ended up on the Glenorchy tip after Tim Smith inverted it into a tree on the top straight at Baskerville. This was the first car to use the Phill Irving Alloy head

L34 sold on to Bob Forbes to become the second Andonicas Coffee shop car, location now unknow. The car was built by HDT

Hi Cavvy,
good progress is being made with the car, I would expect it to be running by spring if all goes well.
I would happily post some pictures but no idea how to ! PM me your e-mail address & I will send you some.

Camaroz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The Historic Touring Car Eligibility Committee (HTCEC) has deliberated on my CoD Application for my car as the 1980 Bathurst winning VC Commodore and, based strongly on the advice of one of its members, has decided that it is the Benson-Brown car (as of Friday 21 December). So there you go! I no longer lay claim to having the 1980 Bathurst Winner. It was the same member of the HTCEC that advised me that he had been contacted by the owner of the mystery NT car who told him he had an ex-Keogh car in its original (1984) condition but he didn't get a name or contact number, hence my ads in the NT Times, my ad on the North Australian Motor Sports Club (www.namsc.org.au) and countless phone calls to lots of racers in the NT looking for this car this enquiry then led to the article by the NT Times on December 13. Almost by a miracle, a poster on the brockcommodores forums (who has very close tie's with a very wealthy Queensland collector) tells us all that he believes the car that is (was) in the NT has been found! This car could be the missing Keogh car that means that it could be the 1980 Bathurst Winner (that I and past owners and crew thought I had) and is now with a very "private person" who doesn't want to be inundated with questions!!!!! In time, no doubt, it will end up in Queensland, I look forward to reading all about it in Australian Muscle Car magazine and the CAMS HTCEC verifying this most significant car. All in all - it is a miracle! Don't you agree?

Camaroz, what was the advice of the HTCEC member that lead to your claim being knocked back. I hope it wasn't on the basis of an anonymous source. You would hope that they would have fairly reasonable information, not hearsay, to knock your claim back

I haven't been told the specifics! Just that "based on clear photographic evidence". I will now fully research the Benson-Brown car.

Now I may be stupid but.....

How can they determine from photgraphic evidence whether the car is one or the other when it has been restored to look like one of the cars?

Also, if both cars looked the same at birth and death how can they work out which is which without the log books etc?

Camaroz does this mean you are able to say you own the 1980 ATCC winner if you can't say you own the Bathurst winner - or did I read the article wrong?

I have a HDT special vehicle 8/80 VC commodore the build number is MU 1. It was painted in Marlboro colours with the big race flares fitted. Has all the marks of where the roll cage had been fitted. Any ideas on what this car is or was
