Who's in, who's out?

The letters are out - mine just arrived...

I volunteered to flag, which was my grade when it exisited and what I did at the GP in 2007 and 2008. My letter says that I didn't do "enough (flagging) days during the 2009 season to be invited as a Flag Marshal" but "in view of your vast motor sport experience we would like to invite you to officiate in the capacity of Startline Marshal" (I am also a Specialist).

See you there...

I had a very polite 'thanks but no thanks' letter. Not suprised really as I had only just upgraded from trainee when I sent the application off. There is a glimmer of hope in the fact that if the new 'Arena' circuit is used they will need more marshals.

Now, what's going on elsewhere that weekend??

Shame, if they use the new circuit, that the "National" Priory post looks like it will be no more.
Thanks, Nick, for the link to the photos of the works at Silverstone.

I'm sure there'll be a replacement flag post somewhere along the National Straight. I see that not only has the post disappeared but also the 'old' vehicle bridge. I always wondered why it didn't go when they built the new one - money I suppose. Woolley and I (and others) were at Priory (National) for the Walter Hayes so does that mean we were the last people to use it?

A no for me - but hardly surprising given I hardly did any dates last year through one illness or another.

You're welcome Alan.
Unfortunately I didn't get picked. Can't say I'm not disappointed, but not everyone can go. One problem, regarding my application, may be that I do a lot of flag marshalling, but I'm not an "official" flag marshal, therefore I have to do incident at the GP. Although, in the past, I've said I'm not too fussed about being upgrading, from Track Marshal, maybe I'll have to rethink this.
I'll look for a another good meeting that weekend and hope all those that are picked have a great weekend

Similar to others, volunteered for incident (as ever at the GP) - but didn't do too many car circuit incident days last year for various reasons so didn't get accepted.
Still, every cloud, I've been trying to get to a 750 Cadwell meeting for ages
