JH1800 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Debenhams Rallye Sport Fiesta Challenge 1980

Not quite sure where to start on this, but here goes .(I have posted this on Autosport forum too ): A friend of mine has a mk1 Fiesta 1600 crossflow,Series x , and it's sat for donkeys years ( 20) in his yard. Nature took it over, and it was forgotton...until last year, when it was dragged from its resting place. Now he was told (as far as he can remember ), when he bought it ,that it was a bit special..I offered to investigate its history , hit Google with the registration number , and it pops up on Martin Essams site ( or whats left of it )maybe a Boreham prototype build, for Debenhams Fiesta Challenge the following year 1980... (which it seems, was a bit of a shambles to start with ! ) First race was April 4th 1980 Good Friday... Jim Edwards won...a certain Steve Soper was fourth...Anyway just wondered if any photos or info of it, and the race series. Was it built at Boreham etc was it ever raced? It was pictured in July 1990 Performance Ford Reg no. is GNO 878T with a rollcage fitted .

rallycrosscraig has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Shame to see it left to rot like that if its a genuine special build car.

I used to have Fiesta 1.3's back in the day and re' the 79 T reg models there was no production model like that. Only 1300 S which was basic.

It looks very similar to an 1300 super sport, which came out in W reg 81, 1300cc, predecessor to the XR2 mk1.

So you get black rear window frame, arches, rear spoiler, bumper over riders. It would also have black rear quarter window outlines if it was one of them, but it doesnt. And of course there was no 1.6 until the XR2 came out in 82.

Would be nice if it turned out to be a genuine car and was rebuilt.

Welcome JH1800 (got your PM) - Title edited.

Interesting find this one, especially if genuine, as Craig says. Certainly worth rescuing.
