First damage in over 100 races, so I've been very lucky staying out of trouble with all that race mileage in the car. Life is far too short to be fed up, so having a few vodka redbulls (medication to ease the bruised rib pain) with Suzy. chillin out and having a laugh
I just put it down to an expensive afternoon at the office, &I have sore ribs because I bumped into a filing cabinet in accounts..... I had a grin in the Sprint, and a good race in race 1 from 7th up to 3rd, at a very well organised, well attended event (both by drivers/spectators, along with decent grids . Well done CTCRC commitee for all their hard work. Last edited by joss Ronchetti; 20 Jun 2011 at 00:17. |

Note To Self - Read Finals properly
Had wanted to race Al and his yellow Camaro for a while so as Mallory is local to me this seemed an ideal opportunity, unfortunately Al, or rather the Camaro had other ideas! Qualified near the back of the 'Pre 74' grid having bumbled round in the damp conditions. Race 1 - Oops, where'd they all go!! There was me waiting for another green flag lap when everyone took off, to be honest I wasn't sure whether they'd all just been really enthusiastic so I waited till halfway down the back straight before deciding that yes the race had started Chased after the disapearing pack and really enjoyed battling through the other cars. Got stuck behind a 3.0CS BMW which was a bit of a mobile chicane down the straight, twice cutting across from one side of the track to another, but I eventually got round him to finish 5th. Race 2 - Was ready this time, probably too ready actually as I didn't move as the lights went out cuz I just lit up the tyres (I put it down to entertaining the spectators) Managed to get into 4th after a lap or so and then all of a sudden the passenger door window winder made a bid for freedom. Typically it bounced over the transmission tunnel and under the pedals. Sliding happily from side to side at times I couldn't brake, accelerate or use the clutch which unsurprisingly slowed me down and allowed a couple of cars by. This was no good thought I. A bit of wiggling with me foot and a shuffled the winder back to the edge of my seat where I managed to disconnect my shoulder enough (ok, probably not but it damn well felt like it) to be able to reach down and grab it. What to do with it now? Mallory's straights just aren't long enough to sort out these sorts of problems so in the end I just threw it back over the passenger side under the assumption that I couldn't generate enough 'g' for it to return, which proved correct! Right then, back on with the race.............managed to get a couple of the places back then slowly hauled in Alan Daffin's Capri. Alan locked up into 'Shaws' at one point but I couldn't take advantage as I was having a braking moment myself. Got as far as being along side into the 'Elbow' but the Capri just had the edge on acceleration at that point. That was a close as I got to taking 4th, once again finished 5th. So two 5ths, quite happy with that. Big thanks to the organisers and officials who let me come and play and of course to the marshals for standing out in very nearly all weathers over the weekend. Very happy to meet and chat to Gerry Taylor and also Malcolm Smith from Scotland Oh, and the Mustang V Camaro challenge will resume at a later date when Al gets sorted |

Hi,
I have never been to a bike meeting and the inclusion of the 1960's GP bikes was relly good. Even the weather on the Saturday didn't seem to put them off. Steve |

Steve, If you get the chance a Wednesday afternoon bike test session at Mallory is usually worth a visit. Honestly. Especially if, as usual, the first 10 mins of the hour are for sidecars. |

Mallory is a great venue, the CTCRC are fantastic people along with the AROC (some of those cars are seriously special!), and the bikes were LOUD!
Thankyou to all who made it possible and I hope its a permanent fixture at Mallory now. |

Sad Day for the Big 'Un.
Just a big thank you to Al for the ticket for Sundays Mallory Park.
Brill! Great shame about the clutch Al. Took a nice picture of your car though. See you soon. |
