BAR Frontend

What does everyone suppose this is for? Keeping the driver cool?

I think it is for keeping the driver cool. A lot of the cars have them (McLaren for one). Quite a few have a little grill too.

Some just run them at the hotter races.

That one could almost do with some lippy! It's not normally as obvious.

Mark Webber has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
its called a donkeys D!ck and is used for ventalation and normal run up to the windscreen via ducting

There is a hook in there, with a tow rope to pull out. FIA mandated it for JV's car, given that it is unlikely to ever finish. Makes it easier to drag away.

I thought it was for cooling the shocks as well as the drivers feet. It must get pretty hot in there without it with the closeness of the two brake discs and the fact that there is no airlow, assuming the aeor guys have done there job elswhere

I'm really surprised that it's taken so many years for a duct to apear there.it's the perfect place for one

maybe they use it to cool the powersteering and some electonic parts in the nose as well.
