Hey what does this do?
Inspired by my falcemob's thread I thought I ask about this sticker.
I bought it, sort of, blindly thinking it was going to a good cause. I think it has done, but I wondered what exactly do the proceeds go towards and, if anyone knows, has this tactic raised sufficient funds? . Last edited by Adam43; 26 Jul 2003 at 00:27. |

I know several of the big clubs also do it, BMMC and I believe BARC and BRSCC as well - although I would stand to be corrected on those two.
I don't think it is something that has really taken off - partly I think because the stickers aren't really big enough for the driver to say - look I'm helpig the marshals (although I'm sure many don't do it just for that) I don't know where MGCC send any dosh they get but I believe BMMC put it to the Rescue crews and the MSF. Someone will tell me I've got this completely wrong now!) I do have to question though Adam, the wisdom of putting an orange sticker on a errr pink! car... |

Well I bought it so I might as well stick it on something! As for size, I think that it is probably ideal. If it was too big people would be reluctant to put it on their cars. It was just, like me, I think a lot people buy it thinking, 'yeah help marshal training, what a top idea', but don't actually know what this involves! I'll have to ask at the next MGCC meeting. As for it talking of, I think, the JCC add a few quid to the entry fees (correct me if I'm wrong) which goes towards the marshals. I think this is how they fund the £10 they give to marshals for expenses (again correct me if I'm wrong). I'm sure this has a bigger percentage uptake! |

The sticker is to raise funds for marshal training days.

Pete is quite correct. The MG Car Club has for some time tried to show its appreciation to Marshals, as individuals, who have given up their time and supported the Club's Race Meetings. The Orange Sticker scheme is for a most important part of Marshalling in general, and that is Training. The budgets for Training days this year were very much reduced by the MSA as the MSF were not able to give as much support as it had done in previous years. It is quite likely that the budgets may be reduced even further for 2004. The MG Car Club decided to try and help redress this problem by selling the small orange stickers to drivers when they signed on at MG Car Club race meetings. Buying one or more stickers at a fiver each is purely voluntary, as the Club thought that entry fees were high enough without adding on extras. All monies collected by this means is held at the Club Office, when at the end of the Season the amount will be announced and the Club will decide where it will best serve the Marshals Training Days. The telephone number is on the Sticker, so to find out how the MG Car Club Training fund stands give the Club a call.
Best regards, John Watson - Chief Marshal MG Car Club |

Adam, remind me to bring some sun glasses next time I look at your car. The amber sticker realy goes well with the pink paint work.
