Marshalls Training
At Thruxton this year we are running fire training sessions for marshalls during the church break. Too help make this more realistict I am looking for a stipped saloon car bodyshell that we can set fire too and wash out time after time. If any team feels they can help please let me know.
You will be helping to keep British Marshalls the best in the world. |

Have you thought of asking the local car breakers yard?

There's an X type Jag usually parked outside the BARC offices that looks like it might fit the bill.

We have a 5 Series BM, damaged door and windscreen, no engine and box, but on wheels and mobile. Haven't got time to strip it, but could remove the interior. When do you need it? John Last edited by johnw; 14 Apr 2004 at 09:58. |

They burn much better if you leave the interior intact! It also makes the fire more 'realistic' in my opinion.

Steve,
We can leave it full of used oil, brake fluid and paint thinners, if you want realistic! |

Hi John,
Your 5 series sounds ideal. As Dave Brand says the interior releases nasty fumes, so if removed it would be better. No great hurry for the car, when would you be able to get it to Thruxton. |

I'll get the interior out and contact you again. When is the next Thruxton meeting? John |

John,
Next Thruxton meeting is the end of May. So no rush. Thanks John you have been very helpful. I don't think I will see your championship before Croix. I will be on the Rescue Unit at Croix with my sister who you know, please come over and say hello. Regards Telfire |

Thanks Telfire
I'll check when we can get the car delivered and be in touch. Presumably we can drop it off to someone at the circuit? How about Tom Jones? See you in Croix if not before. Say hello to Janet. Best wishes John |

There are some old red cars that they use at Thruxton. They are pretty well thrashed. Have a word with Carole at the race school and see if you can borrow one for the morning/afternoon.

Due to my trusty mechanic working on my car, I have now been lumbered with the stripping of the shell. I assume that apart from the interior, you will need glass, dash and door trim removed. Do you want the doors and wheels on it, or should it look like the bare Renault shells I've seen at Thruxton? If the latter, I'll leave it in an Essex lay-by for an hour Regards John |

Hi John
Sorry for the delay. Doors and wheels need to stay on. Other than that remove what you can with out giving yourself a major headache. Seats and door trim would be great removed but don't worry about the dash. Thanks again John. |
