Commentating...
Hello guys. I know this isnt marshalling, but i am really interested in commentating at circuits, but I havent been able to find out who actually organises them or anything about it really!!
I'm sure this post will get moved or something, but with so many organised marshals i hope someone in here can point me in the right direction Thanks a lot, and sorry for the misplaced post, didnt really know where else to put it. |

Commentators are hired by the organising club so BRSCC, BARC, MSVR etc. rather than the circuits themselves so you need contacts in those organisations.
Your best bet is to talk to one of the established guys, I think Chris Hartley covers Snetterton a lot and you can find his website http://www.chrishartley.org/commentary/index.html If you get some work, don't forget to mention the marshals frequently! |

Ian Sowman is a 750 motor club commentator.
Do you want me to ask him about commentary at all? |

Ive always wanted to watch the same race they are commenting on, they must have fantasic skills to relate how exciting 3 Fiats and a Skoda are doing on a 45 race, each separated after one lap by 20 secs.

it is the art of a good commentator to make a boring race interesting - that's why there are so many bad commentators out there Good Luck JackN in your quest. |

"Sprocket" and "Diz" are also good contacts and tenthers! Possibly best found lurking in the Formula Ford Forum.

Thanks again. I've been a marshal for about a year now and am still BLOWN AWAY by how friendly and helpful everyone is!! It's fantastic.

Quite a few years ago now - an Irish Formula Vee race at Donington with Marcus Pye doing the commentary - "and there's so-and-so in the lead with EIGHT cars in second place" (and yes it was that close and yes it was a brilliant race). Sometimes you don't have to make it up.................
