Peter Harding should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Women in Motorsport

The Motor Sports Association’s Women in Motorsport Committee is inviting women that are involved in UK motor sport to convene at Silverstone on Monday March 8th in recognition of International Women’s Day.
To celebrate their importance to motor sport, female competitors, marshals, officials and volunteers are being encouraged to attend a photocall at Silverstone, the home of British motor racing and the 2010 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix. Drivers are being asked to bring their race or rally cars and trophies to the event, while marshals and team members should wear their overalls or team shirt.
Details of the event are as follows:
From 11am – all parties convene at Silverstone in the car park next to the Paddock Diner
12 noon – cars moved into position on start/finish straight
12.20pm – final call for participants
12.30pm – photo call
12.40pm – event ends, cars moved from circuit

Anyone interested in attending is requested to advise media@msauk.org

Sounds like a great idea - dare I resurrect the topic of a "ladies" post at a meeting this year?

I'd love to go but it's a work day and I give up enough of my holiday for motorsport as it is. I appreciate that it's on a particular day but it's a shame that the promo stuff couldn't be done on a weekend to get the best chance of a really good turn out.

Another one who won't be going because it's a weekday.

Id probably have to take a whole day of work for a 40 minute photo shoot with an hours drive each way.

Seems the organisers haven't realised that women tend to work nowadays.

Apparently, I will be on strike that day - which leaves me in somewhat of a dilemma -do I a) not go to work and lose a day's pay; b) not go to work and lose a day's pay but show up somewhere else c) go to work because I can't afford to miss a day at the desk/e-mail.

It is my pension that is up for grabs

May as well go to work, Gordon's going to steal your pension anyway, no point in losing a day's pay.

Or you can book a day's leave because 'I have to be at Silverstone that day'. You might just get away with it.

I won't be going, have a full days teaching to contend with, and I don't think my head would give the day off for a photoshoot.

Me neither, I need to keep odd days off for racing later in the year. If only it could have been held on a weekend. It may be women's day on that date, but sadly most of us have to work.

Hope anyone who can go enjoy's it. I think it's a fab idea but it's a real shame it's on a weekday as it's obviously restricting the numbers of folks that might attend.

Can I put in a request for this to happen on a weekend another year?! At least if it happened on the weekend before the committee could release a press release with pics etc. in good time for the day itself which might pic up some more publicity.
