2010 F1 Predictions - Rounds 15 & 16, Singapore & Japan - RESULTS

Huge apologies for the lateness of these results - amazingly, some things came up that were more important than the F1 predictions competition. However, I'm sure this break has helped to build the suspense nicely.

Singapore GP Results
Pole: Fernando Alonso

1st: Fernando Alonso
2nd: Sebastian Vettel
3rd: Mark Webber
4th: Jenson Button
5th: Nico Rosberg
6th: Rubens Barrichello
7th: Robert Kubica
8th: Adrian Sutil
9th: Nico Hulkenberg
10th: Felipe Massa

Fastest lap: Fernando Alonso

Singapore was generally a high-scoring round, and a good handful of people were a Hamilton-error away from a 5 point bonus for predicting the entire top 10. We have two winners this round, both with 14 points, and they are chunterer and Teretonga, who picked up an extra point for correctly predicting the three podium finishers.

Japanese GP Results
Pole: Sebastian Vettel

1st: Sebastian Vettel
2nd: Mark Webber
3rd: Fernando Alonso
4th: Jenson Button
5th: Lewis Hamilton
6th: Michael Schumacher
7th: Kamui Kobayashi
8th: Nick Heidfeld
9th: Rubens Barrichello
10th: Sebastien Buemi

Fastest lap: Mark Webber

Japan was a different story in terms of scores, with lots of people caught out by the Kubica-Rosberg-Massa triumvirate failing to score. So I should say that the people who made it into double figures did a pretty good job considering. I dished out three 1-point bonuses for this round to people who got the top 3 correct - two of those went to Daisy and f1madmatt, who each collected a total of 12 points. However, they were pipped to the title of winner for the round by rocketracer, who scored 13 including a podium bonus.

So, let's see what those two rounds have done to the overall leaderboard. Unsurprisingly, davec is still leading the way, but the win in Japan for rocketracer holds the gap steady at 13 points. Meanwhile, CDK 7 has moved into third place. But come on guys, you're running out of time if you want to catch the runaway leader!

Dave are you Bernie Ecclestone?

How can you possibly predict the results so accurately unless you knew in advance!!!

13 points ahead with 3 round to go, even I cant balls that up.... I can lose 4 points per round so sould be ok.

Rocketracer has done just as well as me since missing round 1 so it could have been really interesting.

What's actually quite interesting is that davec has only won 2 rounds of the competition, yet has been in the overall lead either outright or jointly since round 4. There's a lot to be said for consistency.

Being a fan of meaningless statistics, I've done a bit of analysis and can reveal that the top 3, were we to have a medals system in place in this competition, would be:

1. Grandpa_Rob - 4 wins
2. Notso Swift - 3 wins
=3. Radex, davec, rocketracer, chunterer - 2 wins

What this tells us is that those two are rueing not entering every round.

I'm really kicking myself for not getting the Monza entry in. 10 points there and I'd be tied for 2nd.

yes, how about we go back to the late 80s scoring system and drop our least favourable rounds? it can be like prost / senna 1988 all over again!

but i digress: the sign of a comprehensive winner is when all the other combatants want to change the rules post competition to flatter their performances... well done davec!

but even though it's looking a little futile, i still havent given up yet.......
