"One of the most significant announcements in the history of the sport..."
A press release has just been sent out.
"V8 Supercars will make one of the most significant announcements in the history of the sport in Melbourne tomorrow. Senior V8 Supercar Executives will be joined by several special guests to make the major announcement at Crown Casino. The announcement is years in the planning and is certain to surprise." Any ideas ? The release goes on to say it will be at 11am and streamed on the V8 Supercar website. |

The obvious answer is a new manufacturer, but given that other manufacturers have competed in the series in the past, would a car manufacturer entering the series for the first time in a while really be a "sigificant annoucement in the history of the sport" ?? |

A manufacturer re-entering Australian motorsport would be a significant event for 2013
I'm not sure how another make entering a series that has been open to other makes in the not-so recent past, would be "one of the most significant announcements in the history of the sport" OTOH it might just be a dramatic press release of course |

V8 Supercars will announce that they will race around the beautiful island of Vanuatu, TC and his staff have convinced the Vanuatu government that, Vanuatu's vibrant tourism industry will increase 100000 fold once the greatest motor racing series the world has ever seen, stage a race around their crappy island. They have also convinced them that handing over their country's entire finacial wealth for said privledge would be a good idea.
Vanuatu will benefit from V8 Supercars just as Canberra, Hamilton and Sydney have before them |

Very inneresting... Nissan/Infiniti have been murmured, they have motorsport form, and they have some form of motivation if they are gonna spend big bucks to brand Infiniti here, lets not forget V8s are only behind AFL football and cricket for audience size.

From our favourite reporter
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1226266055787 If 'this' is the signifigant announcement, my post from earlier stands true. Biggest anticlimax of the sport. |

Its still a bloody big announcement... and helps build the diversity of brands in the sport. Maybe even Peter McKay wont be able to put excrement on every move V8SA make in the future.... Nah... |

Actually... if you thought a little longer about tomorrow's game-changer... I wonder if the TBA round later in the season, and perhaps the announcement of a new brand into the sport may be related....
A stop over at Mt Fuji, Suzuka or maybe even a Tokyo street race might also be on the cards. Or not. Maybe its a Seoul street race, or a run on their F1 track Too many options not enough announcements |
