Honda ends partnership with Jordan

Honda will not be supplying engines to Jordan next year. nothing has been confirmed, but its highly likely that they will use Cosworths.

I hope Taku stays, I really don't think he's that bad and I expect he'll keep gettin gbetter towards the end of the season. And he's pretty cheap too I'd imagine.

No chance he'll stay. None. Nil. He's there because of Honda and whilst he's OKayyyy, he's not that great either.

Is this good news?? Um... Arrows were pretty good with them this year and I'd have thought that Jordan is financially safe. We shall see.

But Frentzen?? Ain't gonna happen. There's history.

Frentzen, no...

Doesn't Benson-Hedges want Jordan to bring in a British driver? Hmm... Maybe Davidson, if he looks good in these two races? A shame they've ruled out Justin Wilson.

Finally there is official word. It did not make sense to me for Honda to buy motors for EJ. He has again scored a coup in F1. Personally, I would have preffered BAR to be dropped but that is life. As for Sato I dont think he will lose his seat because of Honda, it will be because of his driving. Having a team mate like GF can ruin a drivers career. Damn, he needs a top drive!

And it appears EJ won't have to pay, as next year the Jordan's will have that big blue FORD oval on their cars.

Ford being officially back in F1 will/should help publicity in the US too. Now all EJ has to do is sign an American driver to become the most popular F1 team in the US!

I actually it might have been Button in the Jordan at the time.

It'll be interesting to see who gets the spot. Salo? Massa (that'd be.... interesting!!)?? Frentzen WOULD have been perfect but it's NOT going to happen. So.... who??

I think/hope Sato will probably stay.

Hmmmm.... they need young BUT LEVEL HEADED. They've got the "experievced one" in Fisho. A Kimi or a Heidfeld would be nice.

I suspect that despite his recently improved form, Sato will lose his ride at Jordan. I still believe that their is a strong chance that Irvine might return to Jordan for a final season. The publicity of the Playboy, all that B&H money dependant upon a British driver, Ford engines-its a tempting package and the fresh start Jordan need. Despite what I think of Eddie Irvine, he's fast and a fast character-just the image Jordan tries to project.

HHF was FIRED by EJ last year, remember?

HHF still has a lawsuit going against Jordan, remember?

I think Eddie Irvine will have a better chance, according to several sources Webber and PDLR will drive for Jag next season, so EI to Jordan??

there also was talk of a deal between Cosworth and Minardi if Webber would go to Jag.

Phil Giebler'd probably do it for free.

Hornish doesn't even know how to turn right! Sam's a good oval racer, but he'd be an accident waiting to happen in an F1 car.

He'd never even qualify for a Superliscense.

I find it interesting that Niki Lauda knew nothing about the deal, when Peter Windsor asked him to comment on the Jordan-Ford combination he replied that he knew nothing about it and got straight on his mobile to Ford to find out what was happening! For a bloke who's meant to be in charge of all things racing for Ford, including Cosworth, not to know anything, i'd be worried about my position if i was him!

I wonderif Ford tried to embarress him on purpose....because he did look embarresed......

on the Jordan /ford debate....im pleased EJ has got a 3 year deal with a good engine supplier....I hope Tak stays too, but this is F1 after all......although in saying that , when EJ was questioned about next years drivers today ..he said that both his drivers were under contract for next year....so he doesnthave a driver problem ....?????

time will tell i suppose.

I really like Eddie Jordan, but Heinz had a contract for the end of 2001 and this year also (i believe) so drivers under contract don't mean that much to EJ!
