Wacky CART rumor
So I have no idea if this was just a joke by the announcers at the Long Beach GP or not, but I heard something very interesting on saturday. Just after CART qualifying an announcement came over the PA and said:
"Roger Penske, please meet Bernie Eccelstone at the CART press office. You know who you are, and I can only say this once." The dude who said it was the guy who announces all of the CART race, I can't remember his name. I have no idea if this was a joke by somebody, or if I am making something out of nothing. Penske does own a numer of Toyota dealers in Southern California. And it is the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. So, who knows. Roger Penske was in Motegi, Japan over the weekend with his IRL team. It was probably a joke being played by somebody in the paddock. And there is no way that Bernie could have made it to the LBGP without somebody in the know finding out and publicizing it.
