V8 Engine stolen!

Thieves take off with V8 engine.

A V8 racing supercar engine worth about $60,000 has been stolen from a western Sydney business.

The thieves were believed to have forced their way into the premises at Blaxland Road, Campbelltown, between 7.30pm and midnight (AEDT) on Thursday, police said today.

Look out for a very VERY quick Datsun 120Y running around Sydney folks

but seriously thats gotta be really bad news for the owners (any hints on who the owners were ?)

I hope they get it back.

I could make a reliable guess but I dont want to get into trouble...

... my question of course is whether the engine was insured...

Datto 120Y? No way - that'll go straight into a Gemini!

Or a VB Commodore. SHould be interesting getting it to run on the Quadrajet.

Oops. Should have read the linked story first.

Make that "XC" and "Motocraft"

Do we know it's a V8 Supercar engine? There are a couple of sports sedans that live around there.

Anyway, I have to go to clean my garage. I have a project in line for the rest of the weekend with my Camira - you know - more power.

Well considering there are no teams based in Sydney anymore, it may be one of the Light series runners.

Angle grinder and mig welder. What more could you want? And a cold chisel and an FB hammer. We'll be right.

We've cut out the right side chassis rail and just welded a bracket from the stub of the rail to the alternator bracket. I'm using some old 50mm angle to fit the back of the engine to the mudguard mounting holes - those 6mm bolts should be OK, I'd think. Sits up a little on the left of the car - but we'll just let the bonnet sit up too - which should help cooling.

Getting it to adapt to the FWD gearbox is proving a real ****er, though.

Some funny stuff in that - using the windscreen washer bottle for fuel - cranking the fuel pump with a shifter while sitting in the front seat.
Now you got me laughing.

I wonder what a supercar engine was doing in campbelltown.
I wonder who would want a v8supercar engine that doesn't have a v8supercar.
I wonder who knew a place in campbelltown had a v8supercar engine.
I wonder..

Keep in mind the accuracy of any media reports... a V8 Supercar engine is the same thing as a V8 sports sedans engine to a gumby non-motorsport reporter...

Didn't Barry Jameson have a Falcon Sports sedan, sponsored by Campbelltown Trusses? Who knows - could have been his.

You know that the DT's never lets the truth get in the way of a good story

Anyone know how to fix torque steer?

And I could use a limited slip diff. The wheelspin at the lights is a bit embarrasing.

I've been sporting a bit more neg camber since I bolted in the lump of iron AND, I'm having trouble with the 3/4 race cam speedo!!
In all reality, the interns of that engine may now be around and about but the heads and block of that degree of modification would "stand out like dog's balls on a dark night!"

Yeah, the C4 in my ol' Fairlane dosn't seem to be coping well with the power increase..

Seriously though, 2 members from another forum seem to think it was stolen from a 'new guy' going into the Konica series, he owns a sex shop and his car is pink, but hasn't raced it yet. They say the car is usually at the shop for advertising purposes

Ring any bells to anyone?

Surely this is one for GTR, if not I can ask around tomorrow.
But I'm sure we will all know by then.

hehe, yeah I'd thought of that, but thought I give someone else a shot at the joke, only 'cause I couldn't think of one.......

Hang on, if you add a V8 engine to the pink bits and sex shop story it could get interesti...nah I'll leave it at that I think
