Jerez Testing - 09 Feb 05
Ferrari seem to be clawing back to the top, with Rubinho being 4. Massa still dominant over JV...thats interesting.

Better now than Melbourne. However 3 'offs' in 2 days for the BAR team could have the engineers scrambling, not to mention the expense.

as long as the testing form holds to the races(which i very much doubt), it should be a good season with no-one seemingly dominant at the moment and everyone taking a turn to be fast, even sauber.

Yes, and I think the Sauber tandem will be formidable indeed. They are opposites in many ways but both are true racers. 25 days to go, or is it 24, the anticipation is rapidly increasing.

Renault not as quick as they have been and had reliability problems - not the old Valencia dummy again surely..? Webber had limited running - had an engine failure in the morning then had an off later in the day. Meantime Heidfeld continues to impress and outpace MW - incidentally Nick has covered more test km than any other driver in 2005. Rumours that Alonso allegedly has an 'issue' with the team and has been banned from speaking to the media about his views on the R25.... Meanwhile Fizzi is settling into Renault well and whilst he says the car is 'fast' he admits a real test of it will come at Barcelona. In addition according to a report on autosport.com. Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve has admitted to autosport.com that he is struggling to get himself tuned in to Sauber's new C24, and claims that he may have to change the way he drives if he is to get on equal terms with rapid team-mate Felipe Massa. In the first hint of frustrations at his lack of pace during this week's test at Jerez in Spain, where Massa topped the times on the first day and was amongst the front-runners on Wednesday, Villeneuve has confessed that he now needs to adapt his style if he is going to extract more speed out of the car. Although the teams he has been with in the past, Williams, BAR and Renault, may have had the massive budgets required to spend time and effort changing the car and its components to suit him, the reality is that Sauber is much more tightly controlled in terms of finance – meaning the onus is now on Villeneuve to sort the problems out himself. “Probably a rich team can change the things to suit the driver, but probably here I will have to change,” he added. “Obviously Felipe knows the car and it has been conceived with his comments – so the car is definitely better for him.” Cough, cough.... I cannot see how you couldn´t change the car in these days with ballast in huge chunks etc ..
I think Jaques has now realised he just has to raise his game if he wants to impress. he surely will. Same goes with webbos wakeupcall. |

"The car seems to be better with old tyres," Villeneuve said. "We are still slow, but it is better because we were very slow last week. Now we are just slow." Thank God i thought it was something else. Come on, man! Drive... |
