Bizarre: "drivers vote 19:1 for Schu apology for Heidfeld crash"

Rather odd one this I found over at F1-Live.com

http://f1.racing-live.com/en/headlin...18182245.shtml

It seems as though all the F1 drivers had a vote wether if Michael should apologise to Nick for the Melbourne crash, they voted 19:1, and Michael was forced to make an apology, bizarre!

It seems a bit odd that they should vote whether MS has to apologize. Probably they voted who they thought was more guilty in the crash.

Strange, first time I ever heard of such a thing being done!

Uhm, sorry, but this is a bunch of BS. Both drivers said it was time to move on Thursday. And now the others bring this up in some kind of meeting? Don't they have better things to do? Or will they make a vote on Trulli's hairdoe next GP and make him cut his hair if it shows below his helmet?

There used to be a time when the drivers actually had some kind of aura around them. That all the more faded with this ridiculous vote.

I have to say, justice is done, he has apologised, he was at fault (as virtually everyone apart from die hard Ferrari fans and the Ferrari team thought) lets move on!

Surely they didn't need to make such a big fuss over this. He's not the first driver to collide with another and be at fault - indeed, over 200 races Michael's been in that position before. I'm not always first to defend Michael, but a public apology like this seems over-the-top - certainly, no toehr driver would be pressed into this, let alone unanimously. Maybe the vote was a response to (or satire of) Ferrari frequently being the only team to vote against new regulations?

Just goes to show what a bunch of Girls the current crop of Drivers are.
Poorly worded articale as from where I was watching it was Nick that ran into Schumacher after he was blocked late.

It sounds to me like this was just a bit of fun in the scheduled drivers meeting. I often wondered if they just talked about boring stuff "He accepted the decision, stood up and verbally apologised in front of everyone in the room." I'm sure everyone in the room had a good giggle

Yes, I can see such accomplished drivers like Freisacher, Monteiro, and Kartekeyan telling the 7 time WDC that he "must" apoligise to Heidfeld. Right!

Testure I think your right, or at least I hope you are!

This is one of the most stupidest occurances I have heard about in F1.

It is racing? why apologise?? Do footballers apologise to the opposition if they hurt them in a tackle? no, cause it is part of the sport.

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing
They discussed the incident for thirty minutes then voted to force SchM to apologise. What's wrong with that?

Hhhaha..i don't know to laugh or cry.

A sad bunch of drivers to be squabbling over such a small incident.

Honestly, like what i've mentioned in earlier posts, Michael is in majority blame, but Nick wasnt faultless. But on the whole, it is such a small racing incident that no one would have noticed if it is between a Minardi and a Jordan.

But Michael's involved...hmmm..that adds a whole new light to it.

If this is the way drivers want to judge moves, i hope they have the integrity to do it for subsequent crashes involving other drivers as well.

i think what is funny is that both Michael and Nick have forgotten about the incident and moved on, only for some smart boy bring it up again.

If it's from a clear sporting view, i have no problem with it.

But frankly, i have a feeling that Michael would call it a day soon. No matter how much passion a man has for racing, the political BS that is hurting F1 is going to take it's toll.

Who are you Jim Rosenthal? The punters will only understand if I compare it to football. Of course footballers are very big girl's blouses.

I agree with the majority of the drivers about the incident, but it just seems a silly way to sort it out. If you can call it sorting out.

Michael should have apoligised, without the need of a poll for him to realise.

Michael has obviously been told(and rightly so)by his insurance company, not to admit liability in the event of an accident.
