Konica Minolta Pull The Plug

I have just read that Konica Minolta has announced it will withdraw from the camera and photo business. Although the company will continue to develop digital SLR's and Dynax lenses with Sony, as part of a recent agreement.

Bit of a sucker punch for anybody who has just invetsed in a new Dynax 5 or 7D, or will Sony re-brand all the Minolta range as Sony?

Haven't Nikon also given up on film SLRs recently, looks like it's digital or nothing these days.

Nikon..? Nope.. Perhaps at consumer level they're throttling back, but they launched the F6 Pro film camera recently..

Konica Minolta - Good or Bad

As a Minolta user (much prefer the original name) I do find this a little worrying - but on the other side I believe they are selling the rights over to Sony - now as they make a lot of the camera sensors that has to be a good thing. (If I am not mistaken arent the sensors in Nikon and Pentax - Sony)
We can only hope that it will be good for us Minolta users-
Think I might put my quest for a nice G lens on hold for a while (Then again might be able to pick 1 up cheap if some people start to panic and defect to Canon/Nikon)

So no, they're not giving up on film just yet.
