French GP weekend thread
Practice one is complete, little surprise with who's on top and that the big guns did not run! It'll be good when third cars are banned.

Yes. For some reason he wasn't listed on formula1.com.
Maybe he was too slow for the timing beams or something. |

Have Super Aguri introduced their revised car at last?
On the BMW wings, i dont see what benefit they have, but at least it will give Martin & James something new to talk about over the weekend! Will be interesting to see how they go these winglets. |

Second session started. Any idea why Rubens stopped in the second sector?

Renault look like they are back then, hardly surprising. And Kubica is fast again, that man impresses more every weekend.
As for McLaren, well, it looks a bit flat at the minute. Isn't Sutil in a Midland? |

It looks like BMW are doing what Honda did at the beginnig of the season. Running low fuel runs and in the race scrapping for 8th place. Im all for banning of 3rd drivers now.

Well in the 90s we used to call this doing a minardi..low fuelruns so the team would look good on timesheets. Honda got away with that for a while but nobody takes them seriously now when they end up on top. How long before we can say kubica on top is a sign BMW will finish in 8th place? It simply doesnt reflect the true pace of their car.

The difference that you get postings in fora like 10-10s over how quick kubica is after the rather pointless posts about how quick anthony davidson is. It colours the performance of other drivers too. It gives BMW exposure they shouldnt get, just like honda. Be there sunday and then get exposure is way more fair to the others. Its just my opinion. In the end ist their image off course and, like honda, nobody will take it seriously untill they can get some decent results.

Well that is an obvious move, as Alonso is the main title contender there.
Hardly stupendous. |

Its nothing to do with being smart..its just giving a false picture of what the team can do. While the other teams are busy with racesetups and tyreevaluations..honda and bmw play low fuel very fast runs. Honda has been bitten a lot with that and seem to be concentrating on those exact elements as others lately as to not lose face in the press after yet another bad race. BMW is geting points but are runnig at the back of the pointscoring positions. Perhaps if they focus on what the rest is doing, they could get ahead too.
And it seems only the bbc filters out the racedrivers. ITV and F1-live all put kubica on top, just like with davidson. |
