This is the chassis number of Sebah´s old girl, the GT3-R, not the RSR they entered for Lars Erik Nielsen.

With the exception of 1 car Z2S692063 is also an RSR.

I have updated my list, with loads of Porsches from RacingSportsCars.com and some information by ALMS teams.

Not a 2002 build RSR.
It was a 2002 build RS, converted to RSR and re-homologated under the same number by Porsche in 2004.

Do you have a copy of the Porsche paper? Every Porsche car ha a check list like do you have for your road car with all the informations and repairs by Porsche.

Because this way is absolut unusual for Porsche.

No, but is an e-mail from the team confirming this happened enough for you?

I remember something: The #79 J3 Porsche is an 2004 RSR with a 2004 RSR chassis number. But the car crashed at Sebring on Wednesday.
J3 takes an Alex Job Racing RS chassis and put the RSR bodywork on it for the race. After Sebring the RSR was completly rebuild with a 2004 RSR B number.

Very interesting thread.

Some questions:

1) Is the chassis number the number on this small plate under front window?

2) How many R, RS an RSR are built by Porsche motorsport? I think some of the running cars, especially in the national GT-Series, are converted from e.g. GT3 Cup.

Somehow I forgot to answer this it seems.

1) Yes.
2) I have no idea Perhaps some of the experts here know?

Now for something new...
Perhaps a Porsche 997 list should be started now already, to keep track of these cars from the word GO?

Z1S692081 2005: T2M Motorsport 2006: T2M Motorsport
Just to let you know that this car became a "banana" at le Mans 2005. Xavier
Pompidou had a very big crash at Indianapolis curve. A wheel broke and the car goes in a tree.
Porsche factory took the car from Kaneko (T2M) to study the crash (it was a never seen crash). They gave him a new shell without number, new suspension, new engine free and so on . They put number Z1S692081 on the shell. During Le Mans 2006 scruteneering, i ask Kaneko about the car he have (a yellow one) He told me the story. In fact the only common part between 2005 and 2006 was only one of the front headlight and a flasher !

This car is in fact a 2006 specs car with a 2005 number !

ZYS692076 - originally a Chereau car in 2000, then Freisinger used it in FIA GT (I drove it at Estoril, 2001). Passed to T2M and used by them in USA.

ZYS692088 - originally one of the regular Dick Barbour 'Mobil' cars in 2000, then to Cirtek in FIA GT. Run in Porsche GB Open Championship more recently.

Porsche 996 GT3-R/S/R Chassis Histories

Hello All,
I have been tracking these cars for a few years and also been trying to build up a photo record against chassis numbers (this helps with accuracy ). The results are at...

http://www.webbimages.co.uk/chassisindexpage.htm

Any images, corrections or additions would be most appreciated !
