heidfeld and tration control.
a question for the tecchies... there was an onboard shot with nick heidfeld, and he was short-shifting all the time. was this a result of the traction control system working (because it limits your revs a bit, doesn't it?) or was it nick driving like a woman, or was it him limiting damage to a sore engine?
help! |

I read in his post-race quotes that he used manual start for the formation lap, then had problems with launch control, hence he stalled. Surely this causes continual problems during the race? I thought short-shifting came from engine or mechanical problems, unless he had worries over gear changes. I just don't know, but it was a shame he struggled with the Minardi's! At least Kimi did a great job, top rookie in my book. In some ways, Montoya doesn't live up to all the hype, and I am not just saying that as a TGF fan!

short shifting is done either to save fuel or the engine. it would only have been a problem if the fully automatic gearbox was playing up, and hence making the changes happen. it sounded like he was only going to about 3/4 revs...
