I do not know the much about Trulli's contract for 2005, but no contract can guarantee your safety, unless all the parties included feel they benefit from the contract. I don't think Jarno is doing badly finacially so he probably wants a race seat. But Toyota has got a huge budget and they could just break the contracts they wish and pay the bills, no further explanations needed. Money talks and **** walks.
However, I still believe Trulli will drive for Toyota or somebody else, but there is something fishy about Toyota's lack of commitment for their drivers. I did not foresee Salo getting sacked for an example and all the little screw ups in the organisation...I would not put my hope on Toyota unless it was the only choice. |

Who says his contract is with Toyota? BAR and Jaguar are both possibilities. In any case, I can't see them discarding him in this manner, especially as there are question marks over Ralf's fitness and no other potential top-line drivers on offer. If they treat Jarno this badly, no one will ever go near them again.

A sour end to a great year for Trulli.
Good that Flavio is taking most of the blame for this though. (Not deliberately, just where we're all throwing our pies) |

Interesting!
Trulli gets sacked, JV turns up for a ride that at least on the surface, will last no more than three races. The Team is managed by Flavio, who seems to have a tentacle, errr hand in many a driver's career. If this were baseball I would say we may have a three-team trade coming: to explain - Player A is traded to Team B, who immediately packages that Player or another Player to Team C. Not only is silly season Very Silly but this could be a really Silly Week. And the season is still on! |

I hope for Jacques he can show what he can do for the last three races, but i still believe it is just a little late in the season to start in a car you hardly know anything about...
Oh well, that's F1 |

If Briatore is going to punt Trulli, let's hope he at least has the decency to cut all ties and let him join his new team immediately.
I can't believe I just wrote a sentence with "Briatore" and "decency" in it! The problem with getting Fisichella early is that it's not just a straight deal with Sauber - Williams and Mark Webber are also involved in the situation. |

I'd imagine it would be fairly easy to demote Zonta back to 3rd driver duties. |

So who would make sense to take this seat... the Chinese round of the series, a driver of a similar origin might be quite capable of bringing significant PR value to the Renault team....

Cheng Congfu!
or Ho Ping Tsung or whatever he was called. I am seriously suprised that eddie 'the marketing ****' Jordan hasn't recruited any local talent to replace Glock for this. |

It would be good for Toyota to get him 'on board' quick to help develop the car for next year.
I seriously wonder whether JT has helped orchestrate this via his performances as much as Flav has shown him the door. I still can't believe Renault would have sacrificed points to BAR out of spite to Jarnault! Perhaps he will bring the Renault non-launch control, launch control diagram with him, if Mike hasn't got it already. I wish him well! Last edited by Hugh Jarce; 15 Sep 2004 at 11:34. |

IMO twas clear that going on like that would be harmful for both Renault and Trulli.
Therefore, tho the initiative was probably taken by Renault, Trulli himself would have an interest at passing to Toyota asap. |

Alonso is still behind Trulli in the championship remember, so I expect Flav had more to do with it than Trulli's letting on.

Trulli has been hard done by Flav and the team, it isn't hard to see. Jarno had an excellent first half of the season, you just don't go from being excellent to looking like Ricardo Rosset in just the space of weeks without something fishy going on.

So, it's happened.....intriguing stuff.
If Jacques does end up driving the last three races, well I will put my hand up to acknowledge I was totally wrong. ALthough, to be fair, I did make such comments before the Sauber deal was announced.... (although I didn't think that would happen, to be sure"). |

I think that JV is an odd choice to fill trulli's seat, but I'm happy to see JV in a top car/team. I don't like his chances of scoring decent points, but it will provide some interesting viewing.

Trulli has been treated terribly by Renault and personally I'm glad he's been sacked so he can escape the team. It was clear that he was unhappy at his treatment and will look forward to recharging his batteries in preparation for his debut for Toyota in 2005.
