I don't have a mental picture of it other than I think it was brown or black in colour. Morrie (note the spelling) was a bit of a character in some way, too... one of those people I know I knew but don't remember much about. For details, contact Brian Sutton.

Wrong again!

Had a brainwave and thought I remembered seeing a pic of the car racing at Bathurst... checked the Bathust index and found him listed as racing there in 1955 (both meetings) and 1971 with the Vee.

He ran it as number 39 there, and the car was listed as red! Next mistake?

His name was in fact Maurice! He ran a Mazengarb overhead valve conversion on a Morris Minor at the two 1955 meetings, the first with Alf himself in the other car (apparently they ran as a team) and the second with Austin Taurenac driving the other car.

I feel sure now that he was a friend of Gary Campbell, but you can't ask him. Damon Beck, of course, would know all about it.. you know where he is?

The reason I asked is that I own the car and am going to restore it.I spoke to Damon about the car (he is a former owner of the car)but he knows very little about it.It is a very different chassis than a normal car in a lot of ways sort of half ladder and half space frame with the ladder part tapering from an inch and a half at the front to four inch under the engine and tapering back to two inch at the rear.
Maurie Miller I have been told had built a few cars before this one,Graham Howard told me about one with a motorcycle engine that got written off at Warwick Farm while sitting at the pit counter when a car spun into it!I have also heard stories about another car with a Renault engine that may have been the motorcycle engined car rebuilt.

Bob Muir might know him, he's in the used car business as Gary was, and I think you'll find they all tend to know each other. The guy who prepared Gary's car... Don something... can't think of the name... he might know. Gloria could, but I really don't know.
