Zonta and Montoya's races were one-off appearances in the main.

I was talking about since its reformation flor. Once upon a time 10-15 years ago when there were a few more seats in F1 and cash in pocket etc wasn't quite as much of an issue for getting an F1 seat your right several did break through but even then did they break directly through to F1 from DTM or via another formula first?

I just think that in these times unless you've got cash in your pocket or unless you really do prove yourself to be the real deal in a top junior formulae such as GP2/F3000 then you won't really get a look in and even then nothing's for certain.

Fisico got right from ITC into F1, Wurz did a few Fia-GT races before his F1 debut, Magnussen did DTM and his Mclaren F1 race in 95

Be serious, would he have ever got to or beyond FVJ then?

I would say that Martin Hines has been his biggest supporter by far and I'm sure the driver knows that.
