It would have to be a Bowler Wildcat, a 4wd off road super car would be just the ticket !!!

XY GTHO IV ? Would that be an XY GTHO III, or an XA GT IV?

A Skyline pushing out 1600bhp?
Perfect for a super quick quarter mile. Just the one mind. And best have a firetruck ready. |

Its an Australian thing... some fans of the Ford marque believe the GT HO Falcon with the 351 cubic inch (or 5.8L) of ohv technology, drum brakes all round, and 12 slot rims, is the best car ever produced by the Ford Motor Company in Australia... if not the world.
The GT has a spec of engine, the HO has a spec of suspension tune. They had different variations of engine and suspension tune in different "Phases", for the change in model between the XT & XY, the first being a Phase I, second Phase II, third a Phase III (the most revered from all accounts) while there is a Phase IV but the Supercar scare, and oil crisis of the early 1970's killed it... Each "Phase" had a higher level of go faster goodies, all designed to win the Bathurst 500 mile race each year.. 35 years old cars defining a marque, and still lusted after.... with a motor manufacturer attempting to release new models of the same brand, but not the same raw speed... |

Sounds funny coming from a Holden man, but...
Not drum brakes all round. Not in any Falcon GT, even the original XR. Also, the 'Phase' GTs started with the XW, not the XT. Phase 1 in the XW, Phase 2 and 3 in the XY, and the still-born Phase 4 in the XA (but only two that I know of were ever made). (Code-mode now 'OFF'.) Sorry, ASCII 'bout the encryptions. Just noticed. Post 350 for me. Good number for a Holden person. I'll have to skip my next post. Last edited by Aarrgh8; 6 Nov 2004 at 22:13. |

I had to come back with 'Post 351' just to correct myself. Phase 1 AND 2 in the XW, Phase 3 in the XY.
Sorry again, ASCII. |

Hmm, the classic ideal car thread
Having ummed and ahhed at length about this one, I can only Narrow it down to 3. Porsche 911 GT1 http://www.pistonheads.com/news/images/2915-3.jpg A Marcos Mantara LM600 This might be quite difficult to get road legal and a total pain once you did, but worth it http://www.studio21.co.uk/pgt99/svr8/svr8-5-20.jpg Or to go totally of into the realms of fantasy... Panoz LMP01 - The noisyest, most stupendously pointless and wasteful flight of ego i've ever seen and a car that will forever be dear to my heart http://www.autogazeta.com/c/8/b/pano...ltimore_01.jpg |

You see, I'd have to make a custom car.
The engine could be a 2.65 liter twin turbo V8 like the ones used in CART in the nineties, 900 hp. Then we could stick that into a rally car's frame, because I'd like my car to be able to go everywhere, asphalt, mud, etc. And it should have just two seats, no roof, and sidepods and wings... Some kind of all-road Champ Car, then! |

You know I've been thinking about this. If I had to choose just one car, money no object, to do everything I wanted. It'd be a Range Rover. Simple as that. No point having some impractical supercar that you'll barely ever get out of third gear and will spend two weeks every month being fixed or serviced. Have something you can use, that's got all the comforts you could possibly need, and can go just about anywhere.
It's quite handy for towing race cars too... Last edited by garcon; 15 Dec 2004 at 19:46. |

Just one? Oh bother. then I would be forced to get that Aston martin that ran in le Mans and was valued at US$7m. Then I'd sell it and buy an F40, M5 a Citröen DS and I would buy one of those 60's Mercedes Benz trucks that had all wheel traction. Don't ask me but I consider them to be a thing of beauty.

Whars one of those? There's no such thing! There's no manufacturer called Robin! How about an Escort Ford or a Golf Volkswagen or even a Nova Vauxhall?? Or, you could nave a Reliant Robin- actually I'd rather have their well known sports- the Reliant Scimitar! Last edited by Bluebottle; 16 Dec 2004 at 08:56. |
