EuroBOSS 2005 Championship
Shame to see that this years championship won't be making it to the UK. I 'stumbled' across this last year at Silverstone. I got there not knowing who were racing. Was a present suprise to see this series. I came away with a happy memory of seeing an Ex-Alesi Ferrari V12 go round silverstone.Awesome sight and sound! Looks like i will have to make do with the Derek Bell Trophy this year-not quite the same though is it.

Never managed to attract a decent sized field.
I for one am happy to see it go. |

Like nearly all racing in the UK there are 3 series for old F1 cars, TGP, GP masters and euroboss. Whilst they cater for different cars there are only a limited numbers of drivers who can afford to run these cars and hence there is dilution. There are probably enough drivers for 2 championships.
I for one would love to see euroboss with full grids, but that is never going to happen as long as the other series continue. |

It's running on the line up at the CSMA Classic Festival in Brands Hatch again - 14-15 May I believe.

You're talking **** KB, I've seen several large grids in Boss and thousands of fans and families who cannot afford to see current F1 cars, go away extremely happy indeed. Elitist nonsense! Quote:

I don't believe Kicking-back ever actually made it to a EuroBOSS round to decide for himself

Seems about right given that running down EuroBOSS is a preferred method of running down drivers who've raced in it.

We had BOSS Formula at Mallory in 1996/7, and although the cars numbered only a few, they were spectacular. You don't need 20+ cars like this around a small circuit such as Mallory.

You see some people around here think that EuroBOSS is a bunch of rich guys tootling around on sundays in cars they have no right to drive. Some think that they're SLOW. One thing EuroBOSS never was is slow, it has every outright circuit record for every circuit it's raced on.
TGP champion Bob Berridge also thought they were slow, and was humiliated. |

There have been some talented drivers in BOSS over the years - Scott Mansell for one.

Now, not being one to have seen a EuroBoss race either trackside or on tv, I have heard many people discuss driver ability. So you guys can probably help answer the question that many have been asking in the paddock.
You have seen ScottM go straight in to EuroBoss 2004 and walked away with the title and many lap records. Was it the case that he should be considered an INCREDIBLE driver and is the next big thing (could be, but I dont know as I havent ever seen him drive), or was it that the rest of the competition was not up to the standard of many of todays younger drivers coming through the ranks??? I know of another young driver who was going to participate (even bought a car) in 2005 but suddenly decided not too (not sure why, but it could be the fact that hardly any uk venues are on the calendar). Were they wise to wait a year and re-assess? Last edited by ActiveMS; 21 Feb 2005 at 15:26. |

Judging by the very positive industry attention that Scott received from Autosport, Motoring News etc., you can safely say that he got a lot of recognition for the achievement, along with a nomination for the BRDC award. You can see a lot of this in the press area of his website at scottmansell.com Had he been another Sunday driver in a questionable series, he would not have featured. Tough I repeat I'm personally not a fan and don't think he would have cut it a few years back. Since some of the London who write for Autosport started getting out and seeing EuroBOSS races and checking the lap times, the coverage has changed substantially. Finally, and maybe because most of my hair is grey by now, I think BOSS is very like F1 was in the 70's. Great spectacle, big noisy cars driven by guys who drink beer, smoke fags and fondle women (if they're let). They chat to all comers and people just LOVE being able to wander the paddock, see the cars close up and chat to the drivers. Then when the guys go out there, it's none too shabby. It's the real deal and the few professionals that have turned up on occasion have been sorely humbled. I love it for that simple, honest thing that it is. OK who's going to fax bernie to beg for the pass to the GP2 paddock for 10/10ths? FFS! |

It's always a nice event when they visit the circuit of Zolder in Belgium. Some of the drivers set really quick times. Like Mansell.........we even got a special introduction for this guy. Dangerous driving and that kind of stuff........cause he wanted the track-record at every track he has driven. We had to watch him
Some of the drivers are really slow, even dangerous slow.....like Patrick Dewandeleer, get him out of that car. But Euroboss is also a bit dangerous for the pilots itself. In 2004 we saw that IRL car........if he gets a fire, no way we gan get it out. Like every other track in Europe. We don't have buckets of water at the marshal posts |

Methanol can be extinguished by a standard fire extinguisher as well as water.

He did a handful of Jedi / mono races in 2002 to get his licence sigs, and was never impressive. He disappeared then to practice in (his dad's?) Euroboss before racing. We'll hopefully see him soon against some of his contempories and may see IF he's any good then. Last edited by REALIST; 23 Feb 2005 at 21:26. |

Surely the cars are better on a track even if there is only a few and being driven by "amateurs" as some of you have been calling them then stuck in a museum or in the back of a garage somewhere. I'll never forget the Euroboss races ive seen they are something else...even when only Klaas Zwart was lapping in his Ferrari from '95 with the V12 engine..wow fantastic noise and great to watch. I dont think it has the same quality as TGP driver wise and action wise but its still a fantastic spectacle. After all 12 Euroboss cars is much more fun to watch that 12 ff's or something
