If F1 were A1....
If A1 had all the best drivers in the world who would drive? From the current F1 rankings:
Spain - Fernando Alonso Finland - Kimi Räikkönen Germany - Michael Schumacher Colombia - Juan Pablo Montoya Italy - Giancarlo Fisichella or Jarno Trulli? Brazil - Rubens Barrichello Britain - Jenson Button Australia - Mark Webber Canada - Jacques Villeneuve Austria - Christian Klien Portugal - Tiago Monteiro Austria - Alexander Wurz India - Narain Karthikeyan Holland - Christijan Albers Japan - Takuma Sato France - Sebastian Bordais? America - ? Which countries have top line drivers who aren't in F1 and could add to the grid? |

You could have AJ Allmendinger for the USA...
If you were to have the very greatest drivers of all the world, not just F1, it could end like this: Spain: Alonso/Garc*a Catalonia? (as if it was Scotland): Servi*/de la Rosa Finland: Räikkönen/Kovalainen Germany: M. Schumacher/Heidfeld Colombia: Montoya Italy: Trulli/Fisichella Brazil: Barrichello/Piquet Jr. or Kanaan/Junqueira, or Massa/Pizzonia Scotland: Coulthard/Franchitti England: Button/Wheldon or Wilson/Davidson Australia: Webber/Power or Briscoe Canada: Villeneuve/Tracy or Carpentier/Tagliani, or Ranger/Fellows Austria: Klien/Würz or Friesacher Portugal: Monteiro/Lamy India: Chandok/Karthikeyan Holland: Albers/Doornbos Japan: Sato/Matsuura, or Takagi/Nakano France: Bourdais/Montagny, or Premat/Lapierre (wait, it's this already) USA: Herta/Allmendinger or Speed/Vasser, or R. Gordon/Stewart NZ: Dixon Mexico: Fernández/Dom*nguez, or Jourdain Jr./D*az And there could be a few WRC, GT and MotoGP drivers and riders thrown in... it would be a dream series innit? A championship with absolutely all drivers from all places. Like some Olympics of racing. OT I know, but my mind is rolling here... Imagine a month full of racing, with different races, rally, road course, oval, street track, dragsters, bikes, and an all-together feature. It would definitely be interesting to see Earnhardt Jr., Rossi, Schumacher, Priaulx, Ingall, Tracy, et al on the same track. Obviously they should be every four years and calendars would have to be compromised to make room for a month of racing... |

I think it would look like this
America 1; Hunter-Rey, Speed & Vasser America 2; Allmendinger, Jeff Gordon & Hornish Jnr Austria; Wurz & Klien Australia; Webber, Briscoe & Will Power Brazil; Barrichello, Junquiera & Kanaan Canada; Villeneuve, Tracy & Wilson Colombia; Montoya Czech Repulic; Tomas Enge Estonia; Markko Martin Finland; Raikkonen, Hakkinen & Kovalinen France; Bourdais, Panis & Alesi Germany; M Schumacher, R Schumacher & Heidfeld Great Britain; Button, Coulthard & Wilson Holland; Albers, Doornbos & Verstappen India; Karthikeyan & Chadnok Italy; Fisichella, Trulli & Valentino Rossi Japan: Sato, Takagi and Nakano Malaysia; Alex Young Mexico; Jourdain Jnr, Dominguez Monaco; Stephane Ortelli Norway; Petter Solberg New Zealand; Scott Dixon Spain; Alonso, Servia Sweden; Rickard Rydell, Kenny Brack RED HERRING: Team Top Gear; Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Kind of the perfect racing series isn't it?! |

Jeez, I wouldn't want to work with you guys, talk about picky
I hold up my hands, I made a mistake! To some of the other posts: In true A1 fashion I was limiting each team/country to one driver. (Austria was a mistake before someone else points it out!) |

Hey, is it A1 just the drivers? and wher is the engine & the chassis, would you leave them as they are in A1??
For Italy, I would prefer Trulli rather than Fisi and Klien rather than Wurz for Austria? |

Canada; Villeneuve, Tracy & Wilson - ummm i'm probably being thick here but who's Wilson?
France; Bourdais, Panis & Alesi - Alesi would be great entertainment I'm sure Great Britain; Button, Coulthard & Wilson - Paffett? India; Karthikeyan & Chadnok - if we must have them |

Ok, I got carriedd away, Justin Wilson can't qualify twice for the same race, unless he's got Canadian grandparents or something! Insert Tagliani instead...

de Ferran could race for France (born there), Brazil (raised there), Spain (recent ancestry) or England (married to one). Ralph Firman is another with multiple nationality, his mum is Irish (curiously both de Ferran's wife and Ralph's mum are called Angela).
