Midland's livery is navy with red and silver, isn't it? At least I think the base colour is navy - it's dark, anyway. As for Williams, the navy RBS livery is a winter testing livery, like McLaren's orange, but I don't think it's confirmed that the cars will be that colour in Bahrain; I think it depends on sponsorship.

Having spent quite a substantial amount buying black McLaren gear I hope that they dont switch back to the orange.

I think the orange is just a testing thing for pre-season. I expect the final livery will be much similar to last years grey and black but with vodafone in the place of west. They've had ornage test cars since the late 90's.

Pink, the last time McLaren had Orange test cars was in the 1996-1997 transition. I don't think Vodafone will feature in 2006, will it?
I fully hope the Orange is retained, it's gorgeous. For one season at least. It would be the revival year for McLaren so to speak, a hark back to the original team. Why not? I'm looking forwards to seeing what Williams' shall be doing with thier new livery. |

Sorry to be so sharp, but the livery doesn't matter since today's F1 have an ugly shape, due to the following points:
- high front wing - Rear wing position - engine cover shape (it was raised since last year to have bigger surface for sponsors) - Aero pieces of carbon everywhere The result: "malformed" cars which are not pleasant to watch at all |

Bizarre to say the least... Also, F1 these days is anything but sentimental, so thinking they'll actually consider a return to the "original' team colours, just for old times sake, is quite naive at best. 'Oh, we get bucket loads of sponsorship revenue through companies advertising on our cars, but let's throw all that silly money away to sport our old colors instead, lads!' I don't think Ron & Co would have to think more than a couple of seconds about what they'd rather want, money or flashy orange cars! |

Sorry. But I don't find your sarcasm at all charming Anyway, I thought that Vodafone were going to begin as title sponsors in 2007, has this been changed?
From what I could gather (i've been away a while) - the team will be known as Team McLaren Mercedes in 2006, and not carry Vodafone sponsorship. ASCII Man. I'd fully appreciate that you answer my question in a nice way, rather than criticise and undermine me. Perhaps, I should say that at current, i'm not familiar with the Vodafone sponsorship agreement with McLaren, and whether or not thier logo's will appear on the car. I agree with your point about the money however, I'm just not too sure of where it would come from. Thanks. Paul |

Oh, I just checked the McLaren site and my mistake, I thought the Vodafone deal was starting in 2006 instead of 2007!
My sincere apologies! |

Apologies Accepted my friend.
So, what do you think will happen to the livery in this instance? |

Well, I still don't think that they would revert to their old colors for this season.
McLarens' sponsors certainly wouldn't like it. And money talks in F1 these days, sadly... Last edited by ASCII Man; 22 Jan 2006 at 23:55. Reason: Typo: what the hell is sponros... :bag: |

I must agree with coldtyre - beautiful F1 cars are now very much a thing of the past. They might as well allow them awful X-wings back in...
I can't see McLaren changing any colours anytime soon, at least not until 2007 - it would cost them a small fortune in rebranding alone!! |

I reckon today's cars are mighty fine lookin'! Although Senna's 1988 Mclaren sure was pretty... F1 beauty peaked in early to mid 90's. Schuey's "7-UP" Jordan is a jaw dropping peice of machinery

I don't think I'll get a driver cap this time, stick with team gear as Kimi is probably not sticking around and I am a fan of JPM, but not as much as Kimi/Mika. I have to say, the Orange is growing on me though. |
