Hi, the campsite is normally behind the main grandstands on the start/finish straight. When you receive your final instructions you will find they include the route to the campsite. For the past few years the showers and wash facilities have been very good and there is no reason to think it will be any different this year. Toilets are cleaned regularly as are the shower cubicles and there are a good number for both men and women. Lots of people have complained about the facilities being dirty in past years but that has been addressed now and I think the BRDC have done an excellent job for us all.
Remember, the showers and toilets are only as good as the condition the previous user leaves them in! |

The GP campsite is in a field across the lane from Gate 5 of the circuit (takes you in right by the pit lane). Its about 5-10 mins drive from the A43, and about a 5-10 min walk from the circuit gate, although there are plenty of sign posts about GP weekend.
There are usually plenty of toilets and showers available although these can get busy at peak time, a small corner type shop for papers and a few essentials and usually a butcher too. There are security on the gate at all times. |

for those who go by names rather than posts, it's behind Copse and and is reached from the road opposite the village turning. the camp site is a 5 minute walk to the circuit and I agree the showers etc are good and well maintained. The only bummer is people taking more than their fair share of the beer at the marshals party!!

There's only one Grand Prix I'll be doing at Silverstone this year (never done any GP before so anyway) and that's the Historic GP during the Silverstone Classic w/e in July.

Ok ok guys, this thread is about camping at the F1 GP, lets not let it turn into a slanging match over which is the best GP to go to and things like that.

Ok well if you lot aren't going to I'll put this back on track.
There have been complaints about the GP campsite in the past, but it could be alot worse. I love the atmosphere over the weekend...and the party is a must!! |

Last year was my first GP and I was more than a little aprehensive after hearing so many horror stories.....
I needn't have worried.... Camping facilities were as good as I get anywhere else (except I didnt have my caravan so had to make do with a tent)... Other facilities were very good......Good clean showers.....A large burger van who sold a comprehensive(well, for a burger bar anyway) list of things to eat and a friendly mobile shop to get the morning papers... The lack of remaining beer for the marshals do was a bit of a downer but I had plenty of my own so it wasnt that much of a problem... All in all very enjoyable.... |

Thats the plan - if the caravan still exists! But........... if I'm given a pitch on the side of a cliff - like last year, I'll move, and pitch on a flat(ish) bit - like last year So you'll have to look for the flag - again! I suppose you'll be in your marquee with adjacent kitchen? |
