With Deepest Regret - Nikki Stevens

''from Ken Greenfield:

It is with sincere regret we are informing you that Nikki Stevens passed away following a sudden and short illness.

Nikki was a valued member and Director of the South East Motor Sport Enthusiasts Club (SEMSEC). Over many years she had worked tirelessly as Championship Secretary, Entries Secretary, Clerk of the Course and in many other capacities as well as serving on committees and the Board of Directors.

It was through Nikki’s hard work that many of the Club’s championships and races blossomed with new championships and challenges being introduced to the SEMSEC programme including the BMWs and the Tigers.

Nikki was one of the driving forces behind the Club’s successes. She always worked extremely hard behind the scenes to make the events happen and the Club function smoothly, much of which many of the members would not have been aware. In the last year she had also taken on even more work and responsibility.

In addition to her SEMSEC involvement Nikki was also a leading light and official for the British Rallycross scene.

We are shocked and saddened to hear the news today and know that all SEMSEC members, officials and competitors will wish to join us to pass on our sympathy and condolences to Nikki’s mother and her brother Andy.

We will forward details of service arrangements in due course.''

We have just returned from holiday to hear the tragic news of Nikki. Having had many happy days at SEMSEC meetings over the last few years we simply cannot imagine a Lydden event without her being there. Our thoughts are with her Mum and Andy at this very sad time.

Very shocked to hear the news... Nikki played a massive role in Motorsport and in particular Rallycross. Our thoughts go to Andy, the rest of the family and the competitors who used to rely on her.
She will be sadly missed.

Such a surprise to read about Nikki on the British Rallycross website. I only met her on a few occasions - most notably was to take me to/pick me up from my accomodation when I covered a 2004 Clubmans Rallycross event at Lydden for Motorsport News, and also this year when I was at Pembrey for MN/Autosport etc - she always seemed so cheerful and funny, and was always willing to help me with everything I needed - thanks Nikki. You will be sorely missed by everyone.
My thoughts are with Andy and the rest of the family at such a sad time.

Haven't been on here for a few days, and I'm totally shocked to read this.

I only came back to Lydden at the end of May after a lay off of 2 years, and Nikki was one of the first people to come and say hello, and we joked about seeing her in orange for the first time in ages - like I'd never been away.

I can only offer my deepest condolences to Andy, the rest of their family and her close friends at what must be a truly sad time for them.

Don't really know what to add to what has already been said - a very sad day indeed.

RIP Nikki - Lydden won't be the same without you and your sunny disposition.

Upside Down Bug should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Dear All

Many thanks for all your messages of sympathy and support after the sudden loss of my sister Nikki. It has been of great comfort to my family and I at this difficult time.

I have really appreciated the particular support of SEMSEC and BRDA, who were the clubs that Nikki was most heavily involved with.

I would particularly like to thank all the drivers, marshalls and friends who have carried their own tributes on their cars, or by wearing black arm bands at the events. And also thanks to all those who came to the funeral, including those who sent me messages apologising for not attending.

I hope to speak to you all soon, or see you at the race tracks around the country.

Many thanks

Andy
