Motormouth should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
205 Stock Hatch Questions

Just bought a 205 Stock Hatch and was looking for some info. There are two different 1.6 engines, apparently. How do you differentiate them? Also, are there different gearboxes or final drives??
any info appreciated!!

This would be a GTi right?

If I recall correctly, the later engine has single point fuel injection and an electronic distributor, and the earlier one has Carbs and mechanical Dsitributor. I Think. check that with someone else!

Thanks guys. Its an Irish car so you probably wouldn't know it form the number. (And yes, i meant GTI, sorry) The guy I bought it from reckoned it was more or less standard and was rolling roaded at 115bhp. I know that all rolling roads vary but apparently the quick guys have welll over 120bhp so I was wondering where to start!!

From what i can remember there is a little plate fitted to the top of the block just rear of the timing belt cover, 105 hp will have 180A on it, 115 hp will have B6D or B6E, hope this helps.
