midfield looks very exciting and I think Rick Kerry has done a sterling job to be on the grid, belly also looks to have made ground, great to see

Damn shame for Murray, hope its not a sign of things to come. He looks to have the best sorted Alfa for now and some Italian style at the sharp end of the field could only benefit an incredibly attractive looking grid even more.
Here's hoping all 25 cars make it to race 3 |

Also just spotted Mat Jackson in 7th - again didn't expect to see him there, good result.

Now if RAC could win a race. Pole and a race win in the first round by a driver with limited RWD experience. That would really put to rest debate that BMWs/RWD are not suited to British tracks?

Super-Sheds well up and not far off Neal given that yesterday was his first real chance to get some laps in the car. Who would have bet that Jones would be consistantly the fastest Toledo out there as well?
This is the best quality field we've seen at the first round of the BTCC in years - all within a reasonable time of each other, all set plenty of practice laps, no rubbish entries blowing up after three corners out of the pits and being 8 seconds a lap off the pace whenever they actually complete a lap... there really is light at the end of the tunnel. |

Just going through the grid on the braodcast now, seems to be taking an age! Great to see such a big field!
The Setanta coverage has been fantastic, just MotorsTV with a crystal clear picture and sound on top. Superb, well chuffed. Right, lining up on the grid now! |

Yeah, great coverage, and no mid-race ads, well done Setanta. It just screams 'professional' so much louder than the Motors coverage.
Well done to Mat Jackson on a good drive. Hope he doesnt get penalised for ignoring that black and orange flag! |

Surprised to see Plato get the jump on that WSR BMW! Can tell Colin isn't used to RWD! (argh, acronym city!)
Brands looks fantastic as well, Jonathan Palmer has done a superb job. |

Some things never change I suppose - Chilton and Erkut both take someone off on the first lap...
Amazed at the Dynamics cars picking up 4th and 9th like that though, really wondered if they would last the distance. |

All good for Jason Potato thus far. And Turkington for that matter, who's race was rather compromised by those behind him in race 2!

Looking good for the competition for the rest of the year. The WSR, Triple Eight, Team Dynamics and Jackson cars should all be up with the Seats. Throw in the Toledos, Integras and possibly the MGs and there's gonna be quite some drama there. Particularly impressed with Dynamics for getting their new cars up to speed so damn quickly.

If Dynamics are this good early on, then it could spell disaster for the competition. That is a totally new car!

Yeah, well done to the guys at 'Honda' as they put it on the coverage... do they know something we don't or was it a slip of the tongue?
My support this year is definately with Mat Jackson though. I've liked him ever since he took me round Brands in his BTC-P Focus but I've really admired the way he's gone about the last couple of seasons in Seats. Two years ago he was narrowly beaten to the title but was praised by Tom and the team for the way he drove. The first person to shake Toms hand when he tied up the championship? Mat Jackson. Then, last year, he deserved wiped the floor with everyone else. Once again, despite him embarassing his driver, Tom was constantly praising his attitude. Now he's showing well in the BTCC with a very tidy and well turned out car, run by his family team. You can't say anything more. Well done! |

I thought Mat did very well. Not afraid to have a go and pretty clean with it. A few more laps and he'd have had Gio as well.
Certainly one to keep an eye on. |

Agreed, Mat definitely wasn't afraid of having a go. He was having a look at Gio alot, especially into Paddock, not a place where a big girls blouse would think about a move.
Some good racing, too. It seems alot closer this year, lots of young drivers pretty quick off the mark, too, mixing it with some of the old guys. The usual "Wahey, lets punt each other off" attitude, which the commentators seemed to be encouraging, was there too. |

It wasn't too bad though, in terms of contact. Race 2 got a little out of hand at times, but could have been worse.
The contact they were encouraging is just the tap at the back, which has always been there, not the full blooded brawls of previous years which they can't really condone. |

Er, didn't Mat Jackson come 3rd in R3?
What exactly was that idiot who gave him a meatball for a minor gearbox fault taking ... |

Believe Mat Jackson has been DQed for R1 and ignoring the black and orange flag. Overall though great results for him and a good start to the season for Seat - didn't expect Neal to win this weekend though due to lack of track miles in the car and work needing to be done.
