welcome to the forum Bud.

I dont know exact details but you can check this thread out for the Electric speed record.

as for your normal everyday kart I do believe certain superkarts can reach well over 250 kph (around 160 mph).

someone may have more specific details and i do believe there is a post somewhere in this forum about the fastest karts ...

Back in the mid 80's (I think) karts used to race on the GP circuit at Silverstone when it was the old airfield perimeter basically and I'm sure Martin Hines and Co used to regularly hit 160 mph, which is pretty quick when you are only 1 or 2" off the ground.

I think Hines or Calvin Fish had a big off at Copse the day I was there, when they tried to take it flat but ...

Was a great spectacle when you used to have 40+ karts screaming down Hanger Straight towards Stowe corner..

I race Formula TKM karts and we only hit 50 -60 mph I would guess

Cheers

Dunk

I don't have any speeds but I did read before that a 250 ZipKart lapped the Monaco F1 circuit approx 2 secs quicker than an F1 car. Not sure what year but I think it was early 90's...

Highest recorded speed Martin Hines at Daytona 93-94 162 mph, the Australian superkart site lists the top speeds as 160-170mph,at our local 3.5km track we normally hit about 130mph off the main straight, check this for more info!

The karts that Wayne Rainey and Eddie Lawson race - based on a Yamaha TZ250 engine, are reputed to reach 175mph - the fastest go-karts in the world. There was a big article on them in a Cycle World issue last year. I also heard that they can exceed F1 lap times.
