It's going to be a storming start. And a slaughterhouse at the very begining. Don't expect lots of cars at the finish.

That's a cool track,
(Er...DTM, who cares what their fastest lap was, what was the last lap!) |

What a farce...good thing Kristensen is leaving, the DTM doesn't deserve a driver of that level.

Audi's race ruined by tyre punctures, Scheider survives to at least finish 6th - Lauda stole 8th at the line!
Mercedes 1-2-3-4-5! Amazing for them. Championship standings: 1. Scheider - 56 points 2. Paffett - 49 points 3. Ekstrom - 41 points Who said Mercedes challenge was over!

Apparently Tom agrees with you Dead Eye.
What was the black flag for? (leaving the track), what a bathroom break? |

Apparently he went straight in the middle sector after his puncture, to avoid holding up the four cars fighting behind him (Green, Spengler, Ralf, Scheider).

They should put some concrete walls right next to the white line at this track. Besides the stupid black flag quite an entertaining race.

Didn't understand the Kristensen penalty. Never saw the black flag, and was listening in German, which isn't in my top 100 languages - but having heard what happened, can understand his 'protest'.

@ punctures: !!! They warned before the race for punctures. Typically they were all for Audi. Also interesting was that Mercedes warned their drivers to watch their front-left tyre, while the Audidrivers had problems (to put it mildly) with their rears.
Anyway, Tyremanagement is a part of racing. And they did not do well at Audi obviously. Given the problems of Schneider after 21 laps, you would suggest that the Audidrivers made sure that they had stints of less than 20 laps, and be a bit more easy on them when possible. @ Kristensen: He was a bit crossed, and although I can imagine that, it was childisch nontheless. He had to do what he did for safetyreasons, but when you cut of the track like that, that is the penalty. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. But, why bother anyway, it was not like he had any chance anymore. @ racinglines: Well, I think they have re-defined the definition of 'track'. Instead of being the tarmac between the white lines, it meant every bit of land between the barriers, whether covered with tarmac, concrete, grass, dirt or kerb. But exept a tiny bit of astroturf?! Well, when it is the same for everybody, it is not a big issue, although you could be conserned about the effects on safety. @ Track: nice track! It looked like there was a decent attendance as well. |

I don't think that decision to dsq Tom was made by ITR-DTM people. It was race director as I understood. So, let's say that Dijon doesn't deserve Tom to race at it. Wouldn't it be a rather stupid idea?

I believe DTM has a permanent race director, I could be wrong though.

That race was a real beauty. I cannot remember when a DTM race last had so many tight fights for position going on at the same time. They even went three wide several times and this is a road course not an oval.
I guess Dijon Prenois has successfully showcased yesterday what is wrong with modern racetrack design: the modern ones have too many sharp corners and too many heavy breaking zones. |

Dijon is beatiful track, but as for me, it's too narrow, and, may be, it needs new asphalt
