Fine for Holdsworth - wrong??

Lee Holsdworth copped a $2,000 fine for his driver introduction (he taped his suit to his front, then turned around to show just his undies from the back).

It was funny as hell, showed personality, and did exactly what those driver intros were designed to do.

Channel 7 clearly didnt think much of it, because although they dont broadcast the introductions, they DID put that in thier highlight montage.

V8SA then applied a prudish fine. We've got XXXX Strippers gyrating and thrusting but we won't tolerate what Lee did? That's wrong.

Wasn't it the CAMS Stewards, not VESA who applied the fine?

Either way was a killjoy and stupid fine to apply - let the guys show some character for chrissake.

It may have been CAMS, but I know Cole Hitchcock (V8SA media man) was quoted in Mnews defending it, and Lee references V8SA in his quotes in the article so I thought it was them.

A bit over reaction by an official, poor form really.

It was a "fully suspended" fine (till 31/12/09)

He doesn't have to pay anything! (unless he commits a 'similar' offense before 31/12)

Irrelevant. There shouldn't be a sanction at all. The sport needs more character, not less.

True, true. As far as I was concerned, I got more of an entertainment factor there than I did from the races (and I'm not even gay!!!)

I think the hypocrisy of the greatest concentration of lycra clad grid girls in the country, and one driver making a quite funny joke in his jocks, and consider how often he see at hot race events drivers stripped to the waist on the telecast trying to cool down.

Has there ever really been much doubt that motor racing is the most sexist sport?

sounds hilarious... wish i had seen it. anyone got a vid of it?

the reason the XXXX angels dont get fined for their attire is because everyone is too busy watching them dance out of sequence and generally looking like they're epileptic with a strobe going off. (no disrespect to ppl who suffer with epilepsy)

If Holdsworth copped a suspended fine for what he did at the GC event, then Denyer should have copped something 10 times worse for his 'man-kini' effort at Bathurst a few years back - my eyes are still hurting!

I think it's quite amusing that the blokes dishing out the fines are more than happy to 'ogle' the grid girls, but the moment a bloke strips down to his dacks for a bit of humour it somehow brings the sport into disrepute....

So does this mean that it would be inappropriate for Leanne Tander to have topless male grid guys in the future?

GRM expanded their merchandise range at PI to include a pair of #33 undies, yours for just $2,500.
