Singapore's own V8 Championship

from this website It looks as if Singapore are starting their own V8 Supercar Championship and by looking at the pictures displayed it could be based on the NZ V8 rather than OZ V8 championship.

The website is alos saying

Quote:
Be the First to Race at Changi Motorsports Hub Race Track Singapore for Year 2012 (Prize Money S$1.5 million) – Registration Open Now.

Call our Racing Director Brandon now - Tel: (65) 98380216

S$1 million to S$ 2 million to give away to each race team per category from worldwide commercial sponsors.

Champion winners are calculated based on winning placing point & penalties system.
I am very sceptical as the Singapore Sports Council havn't even decided which of the three bidders will build and operate the facility.

The proposed schedule.

Congrats to Singapore for getting over this first hurdle in thier quest for a permanent motorsport facility - hopefully it will be built.

The website seems to offer heaps of alternative championships but I'm surpised they dont offer a round (for some atleast) at the SGP, would be a great sponsorship inducer.

Looks like a schoolkid put together a website to me...sorry to be critical.

I like the "Wealthy Individual race driver may join in to race with centralise pit crew & cars provided for a fee of S$800,000". Centralise pit crew?? What, other circuits have pit crews all over the place?

Perhaps our V8 Championship could be marketed in Singapore as "Son of rich father may take seat of super fast V8 machine for endless years of panel bending and crashing into potential race winner who bring expensive sponsor money to race track to sell t-shirts"

I'll remove my tongue from my cheek now!!!!

Juntos is a back marker

This is a scam! This kind of website gives a bad name to Singapore. There are no plans for a Singaporean V8 series and it won't happen any soon. Rome was not built in a day.

MickAU has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Matt - I thought the developer had been announced toward the end of last year for Changi?

I dont think I'd be signing everything over to Mr. Brandon Japan!! And Ice Racing - in Singapore?! I'd love to see that.

Oh and the airline fast food restaurant? Would any one specifically go somewhere to feel like they are on a plane and eat the food?!?!

Not that I am aware of. I think it is to be announced in Feb.

There are three bids.

The bidders need to bring two International events among a number of other things to be successful.

SAA - Will bring MotoGp and WTCC.
Sports Services - has letters of Intent from Super GT and V8 Supercars.
SG Changi - will bring Super GT and Asian GT.

bidders info
