I guess its quality over quantity. Its been noted that more red falls into the lower end of the field than blue.

perhaps fords strategy all along is to fully support a smaller network of teams rather than throw a thin blanket over the field. Aside from the loss of 888, the remaining teams can show top 10 potential or have had top 10 championship results in the recent past (FPR, SBR, DJR). These teams alignment with RNR, Rosenberg and Webb should see 9 of the fords in the top 20, save for accident related DNFs as the drivers are all pretty good. If FFF get their act together, their results should also show up a number of the Holden runners too, because Dean isnt a bad steerer.

Unfortunately, 4 of those 9 aren't top runners. JC is accident prone, Richards is, well richards, and SBR still basically have rookies. SJ doesn't set the world on fire either. Infact, out of all of those teams/drivers, MW is the only driver who you'd say is a championship contender.
