Name that Touring Car! ;)
Hi, I've stumbled onto a nice family picture of MB touring cars, can anyone tell me what year/model/series did that MB TC in the upper right hand corner race in?
http://www.allcarwallpapers.com/merc.../wallpaper.htm BTW, the link above gives you a variety of very high res MB touring cars over the years! |

I know the rally car which Norbert Haug shows at some DTM events but have never seen this car.
From the front it looks like the Zakspeed Capri. What's your favorite touring car from these 4? http://www.allcarwallpapers.com/merc.../wallpaper.htm 1. D2 C-class 2. 190 3. AMG CLK 4. 450 SLC |

The rally car pre dates the Group 2 car by some years. Also it was developed as a test bed for the 5l alloy engine.
Have to say that given the choice I'd go for the SLC every time, simply because the DTM cars are more like Group 5 cars than touring cars. |

BTW, thanks to everyone who helped identify the car. From a quick Ebay search, I assume that car is not available in 1/43 except in Rally form? |

wow, only 2 left in the world. That's quite impressive. BTW, anyone know what happened to the FIA CLK GTs. I know BMW/Porsche sold a bunch to independents or well off people.

Alfa Romeo 156 "Silhouette" built by Coloni. It's a tube-framed car with the engine at the center behind the driver (presumably, a 3,5l V6). |

Yep
Don't really like the front but the side of this car is how DTM cars should look. More photo and info: http://www.alfisti.net/357.2.html?&L=1 Quote:
This one is also great: http://www.alfisti.net/351.2.html?&L=1 |

I think the proposed '11 DTM/Super GT rules are to make the cars somewhat more stock looking, taking away all those fins you see nowadays. It's good if the DTM/Super GT could combine their rules.

If You mean the US-based VW Jetta TDI, the answer is no. Polish Jetta was built two years ago by VW Racing Polska. The car (which develops almost 400 HP) was designed for endurance races, but now is also used in sprints and even hillclimbs. Great thread, I hope to see some more interesting touring cars here. |

According to the team it's exactly 396 bhp. You can find full spec of the car under the link posted by touring fan01. And you're right about that the Golfs built in Poland are used in the Dutch VW Endurance Cup.

400hp? If it's FWD, surely it would understeer like an A380 in a velodrome ...
