British Formula 3, Round 5, Hockenheim
Shaking the dust of Magny Cours off their feet the teams have made their way to Hockenheim for this weekend's meeting.
There's a short preview here and note this: Quote:

Thanks for those, Valker, just what needed.
It looks as Vergne has been fastest in free practice this morning from Webb and Calado. It will be good if all three of them can have a trouble-free weekend, because they haven't really raced head-to-head yet |

In free practices, British and German F3 were about as fast. Vergne was a bit over tenth slower than Abt and, on the other hand, the slowest cup driver Martsenko was a tenth off of Fong's time.
I'm looking forward to see how the qualifying times compare. |

For some drivers it's hard to stay between the white lines. In free practice, 17 drivers got one or more times deleted because of too wide lines and there were 5 recidivists. JEV had total of 9 and Huertas 7 laps disallowed. Calado went too wide four times, Foresti three and Idafar twice.
I wonder if there'll be penalties in qual. too... must wait for official results. |

Litespeed tweets that the results are still provisional as there are 60 turn 1 violations

Jean-Eric Vergne has won race 1 quite easily after everyone else was involved in incidents of one kind or another.
That results site does work, but they seem quite slow to post them, perhaps because there are so many penalties. |

Vergne has also won race 3 by over 20 seconds from Buller and Jaafar. He looks to stamping his authority on the championship now. More later.

Disappointing round for Oli Webb... Vergne is certainly the man at the moment - lets see what happens when they get back to racing in the UK

That official results site is a disgrace. They don't seem to know there are 3 races and they are giving the results of race 2 from last year. Complete amateurs.
Yes, Vergne was on a roll this weekend, but there isn't another race now until the middle of July. It's the Masters at Zandvoort next weekend, though. |

I can't believe the winning margins combined by Vergne this weekend, like 40 seconds from two races?? On that basis, he should walk the championship on raw pace, thats incredible driving. His team-mates are a way off, never mind anyone else. Did Calado have problems this weekend other than turn 1 qualifying violations? Otherwise you'd at least expect him to be closer.

It was an amazing performance by Vergne. I'm keen to see if he can reproduce it in the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3, which I have just opened a new thread about.

Good to see Jazeman admitting he was at fault for the Magny Cours incident with Collado.
