Can Max Biaggi ever win a 500cc title?
Can Max Biaggi ever win a 500cc title?
This is a million dollar question which has plagued Biaggi fans around the world. Biaggi who looked so dominating and in control while driving 250 cc bikes has lost that 'feeling' since arriving in the 500 cc league. Its an irony that he never got the best bike during previous years but somehow his critics have said that 500 cc doesnt suit Biaggi. That its too heavy for his height and body. I, for one, disagree with such people. I think Max Biaggi has potential to win a 500 cc title, if provided a good bike. No wonder Rossi has such natural talent and has dominated 500cc literally from word go. |

Biaggi, on his day, is a brilliant, skillful and quick rider. However, less and less those days are coming.
In his first season in 500s, he really did challenge Mick but put most of the media off-side with some of his ridiculous commments during that season. Since then, he struggled through two seasons with an uncompetitive Yamaha machine, and then Rossi came on the scene and he's had this personal obsession ever since with just beating Rossi. Many have said that his style would not suit the 4 stroke machines, but he proved in France that he is coming to grips with the new bikes. However, his time is running out fast so a 500/MotoGP crown will probably remain elusive. But he can look back at those 4 hard fought 250cc crowns with pride. |

Unlike Rossi who is sliding and drifting like McCoy
I think that Valentino is the one who adapts the best. He figures out where the limit is and then go for a comfy rhythm, basicly he destroys his competition like that. And he does is in a constant manner. Hard to beat that really, unless you have an enormeous willpower to break that rhythm of his. And I don't see Max having that now. Katoh and who ever will join the MotoGP in the future, might do it?!? |

Can Max win a 500cc title?
Absolutely not! Firstly, he is on a 990cc four stroke, not a 500cc two stroke. Secondly, if he was on a 500cc two stroke, he would be even more uncompetitive than he is on the larger four stroke. Max has effectively 'topped out' as far as his career is concerned. He can now officially earn a living off his side burns rather than his talent. |

I think he meant a MotoGP championship then! But the answer is still a resounding NO. |

Yes I agree , I don't think he'll become champion, however anything can happen. I didn't think Criville would win a championship with Doohan being so strong untill his injury.

Max will need a bit as good as Rossi's Honda to do it!
Maybe the Ducati will be a suprise package and blow em all away?? Max certainly has the ability, dont forget that his first magnificent year in 500's (1998) was on a Honda. |

I don't think Max will win a MotoGP championship. He had his chance when he first arrived but was never able to pull it off. Remember that he never actually beat Doohan on track (i.e. if both of them finished the race).
He seems to have lost a little bit of his edge. Ever since the first black flag debacle really...and never gotten that "winning" edge back. |

I absolutely agree with the above. He was second string to Doohan and is now reliving the experience with Rossi.

Well, you guys have all summed up my feelings as to why he will never take the title. As Elephino stated, despite all his verbal diarrhoea he never managed to beat Mick on the track . Personally I also believe he's no longer got the mental stability to take it to Valentino, regardless of the bike he's on.

Imho Mad Max lacks the mental toughness of Doohan and sheer confidence of Rossi but what he has is 'Intensity'. Lets not forget the fact that he's been riding bikes. I mean Yamaha is a bike! Plus the fact that we cannot realy compare him to Doohan who is probably the greatest 500cc driver of all time. I DO think that Max can take on Rossi provided he gets the right bike. |

Well, you don't win 4 consecutive 250cc titles without being talented.
But Biaggi's day, I think, is passed/passing very quickly. |

What when the championship is gone, the pressure is off, and no one is looking.

Max can never win a 500cc title as there isn't a 500cc class!
He can win a Moto GP title. |

i think we've already established that one hakkiman.
MAx does have this habit of disappearing during the race, while Vale is always up there |
