I think drive of the day is 50/50 between Shedden and the driver of the Discovery that pulled the recovery truck out of the mud...

I actually thought it was kind of nice to see Mr. Plato complimenting Mr. Wrathall on his performance.

After the weekend can someone clarify why Plato is running at the front and Neate towards the back?

I still cant get over that the MG is flying and has been since Round 1 and Shedden has bounced back!
Thruxton was really good i think, shame about Jordan on lap 1 would have been nice to see if he could had taken the win |

Honda was definately quickest car out there in the wet you could see that by the gap they pulled round the quick stuff and the engine doesnt sound like its being worked hard at all can actually hear the turbo whistling over the top so i think there is a lot of power in the Hondas being pegged back

You don't need to have been to Thruxton to say that a car should not be vaulting a (flimsy) tyre barrier. I think it's completely the wrong attitude to say "oh, there's only been two incidents in 14 years so everything is fine". If safety can be improved then it has to be done. The circuits etc are letting down the drivers if they aren't always looking for ways to make the circuit safer. Next time it might not just be a bit of bent bodywork.

I may be wrong but after Liam Griffins crash at turn 1 I didnt see any circuit staff checking/repairing the barrier. I hope I am wrong because if another car hit it in the same place it would of acted as a launch ramp or have been flattened all together!!!

Totally agree on that. That would be awesome so see on the TV broadcasts! The vibrations, camera view so you see a bit from the side etc. really gave a good sense of speed and how you really have to work with the car.

Alan Gow has stated a few times in the past that because the 'spy' cam footage isn't broadcast quality it wouldn't be released - I'm guessing the fairly spectacular nature of that footage made a difference.
There's another one from Thruxton just gone on youtube - the footage from the Plato qualifying crash, a bit longer than what was broadcast on TV, and there's also a bit of chatter from JP to (presumably) his engineer afterwards - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fez5JYT2VDU * * full disclosure - I work for Fujifilm, who posted the video, so if the mods feel me posting the link is inappropriate apologies |

I didn't mean to have those exact camera views broadcasted, they used to have broadcast quality cameras in those places, and they picked up the raw sounds and driver chatter. Isn't there room for both the spy cam and a proper on board view from behind the driver looking forwards?

The position of the spycam has moved on the ngtc spec rollcages to the one you see on the Plato and Jordan videos. I think they also now have an extra spycam looking towards the driver.

Is it just me or does JP mention Andover at the end of that video? Sense of humour intact then!

More like they are struggling to get the car working properly with the new engine and Turkington has a bit more experience with the BMW than the current drivers, and with the BMW with a turbo unit in from his wtcc drives.
As much as I'd like to see it, I don't think this is Turkington returning |
