Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 2012
This weekend sees the 5th Cholmondeley Pageant of Power in rural Cheshire. Unfortunately the weather looks pretty poor but I'm paying a visit with the camera tomorrow and probably Sunday. Anybody else going?

Another enjoyable CPOP even though the weather wasn't always helpful.
Andrew Bradshaw's Lotus 30 Chris Williams blast through the trees. Richard Wrights flying Cobra The straw that broke the Camels back! Andrew Morris put the Lotus Lambo into the bales on his last run, fortunately without too much damage. Tony Wallans lovely GLTL F3 Lotus 69 Approaching the hump back bridge The glorious BRM P153 Stephen Hepworth and the Cooper T43 Chevy Rules are made to be broken! |

Do I get the impression it was much lower key this year? Less hype and publicity than in the past and not many postings here?

There were more Supercars going for FTD this year and maybe fewer Historics but it's still an enjoyable event. There are areas where improvements could and should be made so we'll wait and see what happens next year. Unfortunately it's a Northern thing so perhaps doesn't get that much response on here Apparently the open air concert for the Cheshire set on lawn outside the Castle was amazing and culminated with a performance of The Rise of the Valkyries, which included two helicopters swooping over the audience - I must stay for it next year! The rest of my Cholmondeley photos are here Last edited by Alan Raine; 20 Jun 2012 at 15:59. |

Alan, Alan & Alan, thank you very much for taking time to post such great photos! Am sure the event is now well established despite the poor weather usually apparent. Autocar magazine have taken it to their heart and gave The Pageant some good publicity beforehand and included a 4 page report today. Le Mans only got two.....

Hi, my wife & I have marshalled at this event for the last 4 years & we enjoy the event. It's a nice garden party atmosphere with lots always going on with the air, water & military displays. However, the weather has dictated pace on track
I was post chief at the chicance & we only had Andy Morris come to visit us in his Lotus. He took it all well! The Supermotos were awesome though. Next year, some of you guys could invite your friends to come & bring their cars out of the garages. There must be some delectable cars hidden away & this event would be a lovely way to show them off. The event needs energising with new cars, sights & sounds. Perhaps the HSCC and the Masters Historic Series could persuade some of their members to bring their cars. The list is endless - keep it up guys! |

Wet but excellent weekend took in some of the bikes and autograss they are both mad as hatters . the motos on the course are lunatics but fantastic to watch . The fastest single seat racing car was the Chevron B25 of Keith Harris ,I had the pleasure of working with him over the weekend and his starts were something to see . If any of the Alans have a pic love to see it .

Ditto...
His battle with Tony Wallan (Lotus 69) for single-seater honours was enjoyable to watch. It just shows how competitive serious hillclimbers can be. |

Does anyone have any footage of Andy Morris's runs on Sunday at CPOP when he bolted on slicks? (Camel Lotus)

Were they taken from trackside or spectators areas? And if you could only go on a Friday, is it worth a trip, are most cars/displays there all 3 days? |

Friday is a good day you can take very good track side pics without being pushed around . Most cars and bikes ran on the Friday . there are so many other events going on over the weekend that you need all three days just to take them all in . Peter |

Fantastic event despite the good 'ol British weather. Yes they really could do with attracting/inviting some new cars as many have been seen there every year yet some iconic cars haven't even been touched as yet. If they ever get a warm dry event it'd be rammed, here's hoping so for next year.
