And about Porsche's livery, Martini sponsorship would be great but I personally love the orange/white/grey PIP livery that they use on the GT3-R Hybrid. |

If they ended up having that livery in WEC, at minimum they would have to remove the texts at Le Mans or circumvent France's tight alcohol advertising laws some other way.

It was, 3rd car for LM only doesn't have to be renamed anymore. The original rule was stupid, but if you meant 3rd cars shouldn't be allowed at all, then I totally disagree.

Link has appeared in the R18 thread at least, but not in this thread.

I recently learned that the Porsche 918 Spyder, the R18 E-Tron, and the RSR Flybrid are now using the exact same energy recovery system. Is it possible Porsche will use it as well? Or atleast share whatever updated hybrid system that Audi uses in 2014 except to drive the rear wheels?

The 918 Spyder is a plugin hybrid with lithium-ion batteries, whereas the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the R18 e-tron quattro use the WHP flywheel accumulator

The racing 918 Spyder. Not the road car. All three of the cars I listed are Audi/Porsche race cars which all use this flywheel system.

Ok , So Audi are in , and Toyota are in , both potentially with 3 cars each , so far that is 6 cars . Audi had 4 this year !!! Honda are rumoured to be making a comeback ..... potentially with 3 cars , now we have 9 . Say for example Nissan decide to make a return with 3 cars , we now have 12or 13 ..... thats pretty much your P1 allocation at Le Mans . 13 was the P1 allocation for this year . 3 cars per team doesnt leave any growth , without eating into P2 , or GTE allocations , which certainly wouldnt be fair . If a works team cant make do with 2 cars , then shame on them . They could always supply another chassis to a privateer to get around the issue , and its not as if there arnt teams out there who can handle such technology either . 3 cars ..... I dont agree with at all . |

Porsche ran three factory cars for the majority of the Group C years. Jaguar ran 4 cars in '89, '90 and '91 and 5 cars in '88. Sauber-Mercedes ran three cars in both '89 and '91. Nissan ran three factory teams in '90 with a total of 5 factory cars. Toyota ran 5 works and semi-works cars in '93. So shame on them all? That's a bit harsh.

And it was regarded as a lean year for the P1 class. The entry list had an unbalanced feel to it given the number of P2s.
It's tempting (and I've been guilty of this before) to start looking at potential entries and adding numbers together. It's very rare that you actually get every entry you factor in. This is not usually the done thing in terms of effective planning - but in this case wait until there is actually a problem before trying to find a solution. |

The more factory cars, the better! A couple years ago, P1 entries were in the 20s. That is enough space for 7 manufacturers, each with 3 cars. P1 is the top class and has the highest priority. |

OT: There´s nothing wrong with let´s say 20 P1´s, 15 P2´s and 20 GT cars for the LM 24H. The number of full-season WEC entries this year reflect the (temporary?) decline of GTE cars in ACO sanctioned racing (not including ALMS!), I don´t see why half of the available spots on the grid should be reserved for GTE cars.

The more the better , I agree , then they will have to limit the chassis entry , otherwise they end up turning away teams , and WEC teams are guaranteed before any new works effort .

(1) New Porsche on the way . (2) Viper just started their programe . (3) Talk about a new BMW . Have I forgotten something ? 458 still in development , along with Corvette . I reckon GTE is looking very strong indeed . |

GTE is looking relatively strong in ALMS and possibly IGTO, not anywhere else. Costs are rising all the time and it's even probably more costly to run privateer 458s now than full season LMP2 outing. WEC GTE-PRO is a sad sight... |

New Porsche is not a replacemnet for the 911, but rather a replacement for the 997. It is still a 911.

How many GTE cars are running regularly around the world 15-20, I bet there are 150-200 GT3's running in various places.
Not all GT3's are equal and far fewer are on the level of a top GTE program but crisis point is here. My prediction is death in two years or a collective reoganisation and push to get the class back on track. Afterall does anyone in the sport really want to lose GTE altogether and move into the wild west that is GT3. |
