But on Toyota's own site it's listed with a "zero" and not the letter "O": http://www.toyotahybridracing.com/team/car/ Theres one of the commentators on RLM who makes the same mistake. |

The digit '0' can be pronounced 'oh' so no worries on the confusion, it can be like reading off a phone number and using 'oh' and 'zero' in the same sequence...

Toyota (Pascal Vasselon) says it isn't special, just a clever way of interpreting the 'fender hole' rule. So the raised element is a part of the fender. Pretty slick IMO but he calls it that. Who knows if the Porsche tries something along those lines, or something more extreme, we'll have to see.

I don't understand how it can be legal or illegal at this point at all because the definitive final regs do not exist yet?

Would be good to see a works P1 with an actual sponsorship livery rather than just corporate colours.

White, which featured prominently on the Rothmans 956/962s, the Porsche 911 GT1 series, and most of Porsche factory cars aside from the Shell sponsored 962s at LeMans in '88, and the Penske RS Spyders, which had the DHL colors, which I don't think was entirely a coincidence how closely the matched the '88 Shell yellow and red-orange (though by then Mobil was a big Porsche sponsor, and also a big Penske sponsor at the time). Interestingly, until Penske and Porsche picked up the DHL sponsorship, the RS Spyder was mostly white, though the '07 car when not shown with the DHL livery, was only shown in black carbon fiber.

It wasn't a serious question. I was being facetious White isn't technically a 'color' it's a 'shade', so Porsche can run any scheme of livery and have it be original IMO. Because their cars in the past have featured a livery of sponsorship.

The official factory cars, at least dating back to the 908, where mostly white, even when they had sponsorship, more often than not, white featured promently, as it was the original "racing color" of Germany. The Audi and Mercedes-Benz "silver arrow" idea came from the Auto Union and M-B GP cars of the 1930s. However, most Porsche and BMW factory team cars have been mostly white for quite a few years, countless years, almost
However, in today's sponsor age, you don't really get the "national" colors deal, unless the factory does as Audi and Toyota have done and basically sponsor themselves (sliver/black and white/silver/red/black for Audi, and red/white and "electric blue"/white for Toyota). Peugeot's factory colors with the 908 programs were black and while with silver or French tricolor highlights, though in '10 and '11 the cars featured a shade of blue that looked suspiciously like Ford blue. Speaking of which, in NASCAR, you won't find very much Chevrolet orange, Ford Blue or Toyota Red/White, as all the cars are heavily sponsored. Knowing the Porsche model since '98, I think that they'll feature the preferred colors of whatever primary sponsor they land, which if that is Porsche itself, then I'd bet on white. After all, Audi and Toyota largely sponsor themselves as factory teams, and I'd think that if Porsche is putting their money where their mouth is, that may be the case for them unless they land a big sponsor. |

Too bad Mercedes as a marque doesn't really have any historical significance.
