Lotus 15
Total production of the Lotus 15 model was about 28 cars. I have it on good authority that 22 are still intact and accounted for. Where are they now? Can we piece together their histories?
I think about five are still being vintage raced in North America: 1) Don Orosco of Monterey CA has #602 (a Series 1, painted BRG) 2) Jim Lawrence of Lafayette CA has #612 (a Series 2, in polished aluminum) 3) Michael Malone of Seattle WA has #620 (a Series 3, painted BRG) 4) Jeff Mincheff of Portland OR has #622 (a Series 3, painted white) 5) Dudley Cunningham of Carlisle MA has #629 (a Series 3, painted black) That last one - number 629 - is the only Lotus 15 I've studied in person. I've recently published a very detailed account of its design and construction along with notes about its history, here: Dudley Cunningham's 1959 Lotus Fifteen Series Three Racecar |
