Unless you start the season with the sole intention of winning the championship, then surely all drivers really want is to go racing and have some fun?

I totally agree with you Stu (as always) we had some great races when I had the BMW i also raced that car in the MSA a couple of times and i feel i never disgraced myself, I think Gary Dixon is a perfect example of what you can do on a budget in supernational...

Sorry, but I thought the point of Racing was to aim to win?

I haven't looked at the costs involved but I would like to bet that an 8v car could easily be converted to 16v for not a lot of money? Anyone care to clarify?

In answer to your above statements , (in order)

Yes people could bring their cars out to see how they fair, But really ! is disco dave (no disrespect to the bullet) going to compete with Jamies clio or Ash's Lotus.

Your next to comments rather contradict themselves.

And in some cases to convert your 8v stockhatch to a 16valve hot hatch not too expensive. I managed to do it for around £800. However for the older shaped 106 the cost would be much higher as it would need to be completely face lifted to the new shape, so wings, bonnett front panel, bumper, radiator position etc etc would need to be done prior to even starting on the engine. thus making it impractical for the clubman.

Sponsorship at this level doesn't really happen, we are all self funded people that just want to get some red mist aggression at the weekend.

I have just had a conversation with Willie at LHMC, not all is lost for the clubman. Watch this space.

Also he confirmed that 8v engines are elegible to run in hothatch

All people will need is an 'a' licence to race in belgium, all other meetings WILL be run on a 'b' licence

Picking up on the word Belgium, are the joint Belgium/British rounds back for 2013?

As a spectator, I really hope so, it's been great when the Belgium championship has come to Lydden as either a stand alone or a combined event. And with the ERC giving Belgium a miss in 2013, it would be good to have a meeting to go to over there....

That is great news. Best event of the last few years (better than the ERC, IMHO).

Things have changed so much over the years but I'm really please that i took part in Rallycross (well Minicross) during 2001-2004.
It was a real bumper number of years.
I seem to remember 40 plus 205 peugeots battling in the heats and the Minicross had A and B finals, racing against the likes of Bink's, Roach, Budds et all.
Supercars had a real buzz to it and we had the introduction of Blyton and the return of Brands Hatch and Knockhill.
Good times
