Indycar management is also behind that P1 rumor because they are looking for a good series to run with the Indycars(to make the weekend better for the fans to fill the stands) with a race at the brickyard to start the fun in the month of May.(24hrs of Indy?)
Honda is looking for a team to run two 2014 P1's next year and the first team that comes to my mind is Ganassi. |

It'd be neat to see P1's on ovals...but they'd probably have numbers equal to Indy Lights.

This was mentioned on the Speed broadcast of the 24LM. I had always thought the Michelotto was something like a branch of the factory-I guess instead they are a different company. What is the reason for breaking away from Michelotto now?

They aren't far off the current pace of Indy cars.

According to the article could have 8 or 9 cars (2 Ganassi Honda, 2 Penske Porsche, 2 Audi, 2 Toyota and Muscle Milk Honda) I think Dyson will go to USCR P2, Dyson are very slow to compete here. But with 8 or 9 cars you have not a category, you need more cars. I think you need at least 20 cars. How could be made this grid? Another LMP1 ,Perrinn, Adess, Rebelion, Lotus, Roble, Dome? LMP2, LMPC, GTE or GT3? |

But you don't have the classic venues for North America, and you are in competition with a well-financed competitor. |

The Peugeot 908 would have probably beaten the Indy Car pole time if it was there. |

St Pete is a slow track and the new IndyCars are faster than the old generation Dallaras, and for example at Mid-Ohio about 6 seconds faster than Muscle HPD. Also consider that 2014 cars might be initially slower.
Easy to google, e.g. http://www.crash.net/indycar/results...ing_times.html http://www.racingsportscars.com/resu...012-08-05.html Last edited by deggis; 11 Jul 2013 at 04:13. |

And they had at least 700hp, but today they're nearly as fast with 600hp. Just think how fast theyll be next year with less weight and more hybrid power. The HPD is nowhere near as good as Toyota or Audi's car yet still within shouting distance of those cars with the cut in power.

The ACO is the real complication in this. Elite P1 entries like Ganassi/HPD and Penske would have them licking their lips but how do they entice them to Le Mans without angering the USCR crew?

Will the ACO be excited by this? My guess is that Ganassi and Penske would only ever race these cars in America. I only care if they're going to hop across the pond with them too....and so should the ACO. |

The ACO would also have to abandon the WEC too. Toyota wouldn't race in both, no way. Hard to see Audi racing in both this hypothetical series and WEC too. Same with the privateer LMP1s.
There's a reason LMP1 is dead outside of WEC, this hypothetical Amercan series wouldn't stand much of a chance. |

I know some GA teams wont like it - but surely the answer is the 'North American Endurance cup' where P1 entries are accepted to say 4 nr prestige USCR events - this could be done from 2015 and only happen if there were a minimum number of entries - say 8?
With proper cooperation these event could even count towards the P1 WEC championship |
