Exciting and charismatic off-track. Well, are we going to marry this guy or watch him drive a F1 car? Sorry but that's not a reason for him getting a drive, not before the likes of Frijns or Nasr.

Bird's a multiple race winner, Nasr isn't. So why does Nasr warrant promotion more?

It annoys me when people, particularly F1 personnel, say that Nasr is unworthy because he hasn't won in GP2. He's been the most consistent driver out there and doing that in his second year against drivers with much more experience at this level is very impressive.
Assuming that Nasr is unlikely to win the title, I want Sam to get it. It's easy to say that he's been around for years, etc, but he's really stepped it up this season. He has shown he has the pace in qualifying and in race trim - with the high deg Pirellis - to mark himself out as a driver that could do a very solid job in F1. And he's done this in a brand new team to GP2, beating a teammate that everyone here was fawning over at the start of the year. |

Well, if we must speak strictly in terms of race wins, Sam Bird had only one(Monza 2010, feature) at the end of his 2nd GP2 season.
Also, unlike Sam in 2010 and 2011, who was nowhere near the title chase, this year Felipe Nasr has clearly raced with the championship in mind, one can assume he could have got one win or two if he could have afforded to take full risks. |

He was playing for 3rd place in the last race before Ferrari academy driver Perez "missed his breaking point" and shoot him in the air, preserving Bianchi's 3rd position that year... And if you are not convinced yet, check the voting of 2010 best GP2 driver of the year in GP2 by Autosport. Sam's first year is 10 times, I repeat, 10 times more impressive than the two years Nasr did so far. Last edited by ace007; 27 Oct 2013 at 07:36. |

And on top of all, there is the famous "Sam Bird Corner" in Barcelona! That extraordinary performance will stay in the history of GP2 with Hamilton's Turkey one!

History in the making in GP2, top performance in voting, well, let's see if he ever wins a title for a change. Sorry guys, I understand you like him but at the end of the day the guy is 26 an he has won 0 titles so far. Nasr in contrast has been crowned on every step he has taken.
