Indeed. The driving standards were abysmal on the opening lap of yesterday's race, so it's perhaps no great surprise.

Here's the video - Urrutia rolls around the 9m50s mark, and then the SC deployment triggers a more serious incident. Pohler was extremely lucky not to take a hit on the head by that other car that ploughed into him when he'd come to a rest:

I'm glad that all drivers are fine.

I've rad that the driver who tangled Urrutia wasn't penalized at all.

The second crash was ridiculous. Did anyone see the SC banner?

o- Ed Jones won both races at Barcelona and was crowned 2013 champion.
o- Sandy Stuvik finished 5th and 2nd, so he ended up vice-champion.
o- Santiago Urrutia got two podiums, but ended 4th in the standings, four points behind Nelson Mason.
o- Alexander Toril ended 5th, and Alexandre Cougnaud 6th. Richard GOnda won the Cup class over Cameron Twynham.

I'm really confused.

I thought Cougnaud won the second race, from Stuvik, Urrutia and Mason? Jones was leading but then slipped to 5th.

Using Wikipedia as a guide (a mistake I know!), Stuvik had a 20point gap to Jones going into the Barcelona weekend. A 5th and a second for Stuvik, coupled with a win, 2 poles, 1 FL and a 5th for Jones should have seen Jones cut the gap to 10points, but the visuals on screen yesterday and everything else I've seen says Jones is the champ.

So what gives? Does the second race not score the same points as the first?

Drivers drop there 2 worst scores I think - Stuvik had more points overall, but loses championship after dropping his worst point scores...

Cougnaud did win race 2 according to the points table on the official site...

Ed Jones led race two from pole but dropped back to fifth playing it conservatively knowing what he had to do be crowned Champion. A brilliant campaign from him, especially as he missed the first two races.

That would make sense - hadn't seen any mention of dropped scores before now. It did look like Jones had a problem, but if he knew he was pretty safe then the no-risk strategy made sense. It was a great job from him to win the championship

Isn't Stuvik appealing because Jones raced in Catalunya this year?
