If the slow car had popped high on entry--it would have allowed Baird thru on inside and he would have been gone in a flash. If slow car had half a brain-- going high(to the right) as Baird approached it would have telegraphed where he wanted to be passed. It is an all to often scenario--not helped by the idiotic c of c type instruction to hold your line. Too many slow car drivers take that literally--it should actually say-- be predicable and telegraph(car body language-not pointing) where room is being left. Another point-- if the slow car in video had simply left 2 meters on the inside-- no affect on his lap times and faster car thru and gone. |

Yes you are correct, and supposedly they are the same speed as the GT3's with comparable drivers. At some of the other rounds the seat's and the GT3's have been the same speed. Not sure if Bairds car was a normal GT3 cup type car or something better though,? |

For a bit of comparison, Baird was around 3 seconds quicker in the VIP porsche than McIntyre was in the Fastway porsche, and Baird certainly isn't that much better than McIntyre in a porsche! |

Its the top end of GT3 spec, competes against the likes of the SLS, 458 GT3 (not the 458 road car with aero kit that competes in the South Island Series) etc so it is quite a bit quicker than a standard GT3 cup. As for the Seat. What a terrible piece of driving. |

[QUOTE=Dav1s;3331397]The Fastway Porsche seems to be a 2011 GT3 Cup Car with ABS and Paddle Shifters. That GT3R is next level up.

[QUOTE] So for the Fastway GT3 to be only 1.5 seconds slower than Murphy in the McLaren but also faster that the Waite/Evans Aston Martin GT3, one of the Audi R8's, the Crick Viper and Ivan Capelli in the Corvette is a bloody great effort then I say!! |

I watched most of the 101 the other day....what does everyone think of the track layout?
At 4.2(?) Km there is plenty of room to play...but...as a TV spectacle it was really hard to get a feel for how the track is stitched together. Maybe I need to blame the Kiwi TV Director for chopping and changing so much it was difficult to get a feel for how the track "flowed". One thing I didn't like was the loop with a forest in the middle....looks very special...but, a recipe for disaster from a racing point of view....but as Mr Tony Quinn pointed out, it was not a race, but an event http://www.australiangt.com.au/news/...-highlands-101 |

Just watching the Toyota Single seaters at HP on TV.
It appears from the TV that there's a high percentage of the track that is neither spectator accessible, nor in view. Considering the complaints about turning Pukekohe onto a concrete canyon, the impression I get of HP is that there is too much concrete too close to the track edge, especially at a brand new track where there were no space limitations. I would be very interested to hear the opinions of paying spectators as one day, I'd like to go and take a look. However, as always, I wouldn't cross the road for any meeting with small grids, particularly at a 4.2km track. |
